He's nothing short of a legend, and he got my old man in to Boards of Canada. He was eclectic in every sense of the word, and had a great sense of humour too. Badman.

His memoirs are indeed a very recommended read, and so was the follow up book "the olivetti chronicles" which was a bunch of articles and letters he wrote over the years.
A true inspiration.
radio 1 (especially the evening slot he left behind) has been crap since.
