The good thing about the Pioneer range is there seems to be a decent standard
of quality and you will know you have a mixer with decent design pedigree behind it.
Things like crossfaders should have a better life and basic reliability will be there.
(Of course you can be unlucky and get a duff one out of the box) but it's less likely.
If you don't need the extra bells and whistles of a cheaper mixer then the Pioneer
should do this trick.

The other way to look at it will be getting a cheaper one (and getting 2 of them!)
then you have a back up. You can get 3 of these for the same wedge....

I have also heard a few live engineers say "Allen and Grief" but this may be
unwarranted.

But sound and reliability would probably not be as good.
(may be ask for user reports?)

cheers

wut

behringer are the shittest mixers you can buy.
a sound engineer complaining about an A&H mixer compared to a Behringer or Pioneer doesn't deserve his job....

WORD!

people need to stop recommending shit, just because its a lot of it out there.
And beeing a sound-engeneer isn't always a sign you care about quality and good sound.
Lots of them care more about justifying their own superior knowledge.
There is so many types of sound, find the one you like . . .

I offered a few options and explained the pro's and cons.
I have used the items I suggested, end of the day it's all made in China
and uses 5532 or, 2068 / 4580 opamps,(A+H loves TL072's) none of this is high end, all low
cost solid state components which can all go wrong at any time.

I did not purport to have superior anything, I offer an opinion but fact is
some people DO know more than others, that's largely how the world operates.
People get paid for knowing or doing things.

Obviously depends if you want it for shows or studio work.

I use a Rodec Scratchbox which crosses the bridge very nicely indeed as they're core business is making fuck off massive stadium size mixers...

i would be very vary of vestax indeed as the build quality has been steadily declining for a number of years, probably due to moving tehir manufacturing base to china...

:edit: just seen you already done bought it, so disregard above :o

got the A&H today, it was wrecked..
Crossfader had snapped off in the right
side, some buttons cracked and had
fallen off, tried playing on it for ten
minutes and i sounded VERY nice,
THEN i tried the filter, and it sounded
HORRIBLE something was definately
wrong.. sounded like a 10 khz constant
tone scratching the inside of your ear
at 90 db's of annoying doom-like high
end. This is not how it should be so dont
worry if youre thinking about buying it,
its most definately a mistake.

you cant complain about shipping time
though. 1 day shipping!? maybe a little
too much rush there. the box was intact
though.

hopefully ill get a new one by wednesday.
