I'll forth it. Both are good for different things. Software is advancing so much quicker and a lot of 'hardware' is actually a small computer running software in a box with knobs on it these days.

Hardware cos its richer in sound

But I use both in my studio...

PLUS... My TI is a VST too so do I call that hard or soft...

I'm going with both, but theres nothing better than just pulling a synth onto your knee and messing about with sounds and melodies while watching the telly.
