the way he spoke to various peoples from various viewpionts and although he clearly has a belief in some form of "god" he didnt push it down ur throat imo. and allowed everyone to explain themselves prety much as they wanted.
the bit i found most interesting was when he visited the science place in the states where they are doin the matter into anti-matter experiments that many of the pro and anti god camp refer to. and the head honcho of that experiment said himself that the existence of god cannot be proved or disproved, even though lots of people claim these experiments as proof or evidence against a "god".
i do find the way that atheists and agnostics hav been lumped together a bit unhelpful, cos in my understanding an agnostic beleives in "something" whereas an atheist doesnt believe there is anything (unless im wrong)
I think in the loosest sense that an agnostic is someone that believes in some higher power but isn't convinced by the explanations of conventional religion whereas an atheist as you say doesn't. From a logical perspective though, agnosticism makes slightly more sense as there is no way to prove/disprove the existence of something beyond current understanding. I do think ex-christian atheists are as dogmatic in their opinions now as they probably were in their evangelical days (that ex-smoker comparison comes to mind).

I do find it odd though that people think there's some divine purpose to their existence and they must be here for a reason - I just figure you're here now, deal with it

Nothing that complicated about sperm hitting egg to understand is there
Hmm....

my understanding is that to be classed agnostic does not require any belief in anything, other than that we do not have the required information or understanding to be certain of the origins / explanation of the universe

thats how i would describe myself

atheist I guess, allthough I dont like classing that as a belief really, doesnt make any sense. I saw some documentary about atheism in america and it gave the impression atheists are persecuted because of their beleif system and there are even atheism churches, what the fuk??

I think the fact that relatively sane people can genuinely believe and follow modern religions like scientology helps show-up religious belief and 'faith' (i.e believing in something without any logical thought to get to that belief) as a psychological pitfall of human kind, and in countless cases across history a very powerful tool for various people.

yeah im into ceremonial magick, and eastern mysticism. For the record tho, i get results with what i do, otherwise i wouldnt do it. Im the most scheptical person i know, and i was rather athiest for a long time. my experiences have changed that, and i love that im creating my own world view based on self-discovery (both through art and through meditiation/ritual/life). Its like, you get to this point where, everything external is a reflection of your internal state... 'as above, so below' and all that.

So you are no longer a 'spiritual' person trying to achieve 'enlightenment'. You are participating in life, which happens to be an entirely holy event.

im definitely not enlightened, and i have many flaws, but thats the beauty of it. Im learning what my flaws are, and making a conscious choice to change them, or live with them. The choice is mine to make.

oh, i stopped doing hallucinogens long ago too, so i cant blame my state on them :P

first of all, scientology is crazy man... i even had a friend who went and checked em out... he said it was really strange... and thats coming from a fellow 'occultist' (whatever that means!!).

second, i hear what your saying about faith. Please remember tho, theres more than just the logical mind, you can feel too.

next time your at a club, feel the music, instead of listening to it. dont think about how it was made, or how the mix is, just get into the music. That place in yourself where the feeling comes from... thats where faith comes from too.

if all we did was think our way through music, we'd be drum n bass.

what with the Dawkins book doing the rounds on various tv shows an magazine/newspaper columns.
i feel any kind of organised religion (like any large group, companies, governments etc etc...) is prone to corruption and general shittyness and wouldnt say i follow any particular religion, hence my "Other" vote.
I do firmly believe in the Oneness of all and see consciousness as being what our universe is made of, which i suppose can be seen as hindu, but i dont follow a sect or nothing. I think all the religions have useful things to help us understand our place in the universe.
I think all religions are mans attempt at understanding his place in the unverse and that cold logic cannot be the only way to finding our place in it (as science and many atheists will say) we are not cool logical beings and therefore our understanding of the world we are in shudn't be understood purely in those terms.
my understanding of God is not sum dude with a white beard and a lightning bolt to strike down sinners. but rather that we are all a part of the whole, we are god experiencing himself in polarity consciousness.
I guess if i was to say i was anything i would be a Taoist - "The Tao that can be described is not the eternal Tao" (the god that you can describe is not the eternal god)
i'm sorta with whistla on this one but sprinkle in the aliens and hefty dose of IHAVENOFUCKINIDEAWHEREITALLCOMESFROM

i voted agnostic
