That was about to be my setup. I read a couple articles on the APC vs. Launchpad and the launchpad has nicer buttons and I think is way cooler for live performances (the colors!!!) but yeah ur gonna need extra hardware and unfortunately the launchpad is only usb. :(

just had a ton of fun with this. Really really good. Brilliant for jamming.

With the remote zero for faders and knobs and this for triggering clips, badmon setup. Cant wait to get some proper sets together with this.

Slick as, highly recommended. (dint try the akai one tho to be fair, but nearly twice the price and dont need knobs or sliders.)

I have the Launchpad too. Triggering, mixer with sends and pans and all that stuff is simple and works nicely. Other controls you want to have you can assign.
Problem was that i didn't even know that i have to have Live 8. And 8.01 isn't enough you'll need to update to at least 8.06. So if you're buying the launchpad, make sure you notice that. Live 8 launchpad version is shit.

Not too expensive, has all the controller types: knobs, sliders, xy pad, keys, and drum pads, plus transport some switches and a good keyboard, plus a display and the automap software that makes them so easy to setup.
hell yeah that thing looks pretty sick. still trying to decide if i should get this, an akai mpk 25, or something a bit cheaper like an m audio.

Purely from a DJ / live set point of view, I think the launchapd is well worth it, use the extra £200 you save on something that does the knobs and faders. I use a Launchpad and a Nocturn, Automap allows you hundreds of assignable knobs and faders, everything lights up and let's face it, girls love that shit.
