tbh this isnt new ... i've heard stuff similar since the early 90's .... mostly just sections in dnb tunes, i made a tune with half time dnb beats along time ago but didnt think anyone would like it b/c it wasnt dnb and i didnt know what dubstep lol :D

imo dubstep sounds sick as it is and so does dnb ... no need to mash em up

I think the potenital for new vibes is enourmous, as long as people aren't thinking of making half step DNB. I've been enjoying messing about with higher tempos but with my dubstep influences.

not feeling it. sounds conformist-ing spazz out. dnb should be dnb and dubstep should be dubstep.

The intro of Akira Kiteshi's Boom 'n Pow is at about 95 BPM (or 190 halftime for you assholes who think it makes a difference), and that sounds quite sick.

as tripaddict says though, half step dnb has been about for time, probably longer than dubstep.

Ironic because when I started playing dubstep around town people thougt I was playing dnb on 33. Personally I am in favor of all different tempos, imagine if Led Zep wrote all their tunes at 140, fail.

I've been thinking about making stuff like this for a year or so now.
Had this little slip of paper blue-tacked to the side of my PC saying:
Do some 160-170bpm Dnb-step-hop-budubstyle stuff!
(Only I would understand such ramblings lol)...

I've yet to get on it. But I may be inspired to after hearing some of this stuff :e: It's sounding nice and like there's a lot of space for it to go as a "genre" and it has been around for a while in some form or another.
