All I know is I tried it out. Ran a folder of tunes through it of which I already knew the keys of. Didn't get a single one right. And the whole mixing key by numbers thing is total garbage. That is what I argued with them over. If there is a software out there that is going to work for real, I'd give it a shit but it better give me real keys not 9A or some bullshit. I have even heard mixes that were made using the whole system and not heard one single key match on the record. People have to quit relying on software to do EVERYTHING for them. Use you ears plz.

abz, dude, I take your opinion for what it is worth, but Ive seen the only posts Ive seen outta that kid have been blind knocking of tools... 'FL Sucks''Linux Sucks''Key Detection Sucks'... N no beef witcha either homie, just learn to explain to us why you hate these things.

n dont worry guys, Im all ears in my track to tracks, Ive never used waveform display n ive never used key... look bpms up at chemical if im lazy sometmes though... wouldnt really want all the BPM counters n Key Detection, at hat point, theres no performance in the art :P... might as well be a damn computer.

But. Mixed in key gets disregarded for its real value, which is KEY DETECTION IN SAMPLEs... its not so much useful for tune detection where there will be progression n shit, bt rather for analyzing mid-high frequency samples for the key they correspond with most scientifically.

Take the female vocal from the DSF17 pack. Thiers that ambient sound in the back...

Or any processed or organic recorded drum hits, and ESPECIALLY hats and incidentals... sure, you can match this stuff on ear, but sometimes seeing whats scientifically right can give you a step in the creative right direction in production, NOT SO MUCH DJNG.

This was a dead topic bumped anyway, Im on too new projects now. 8)

I still say you gotta use the ears especially with samples because you cant get away with an off mix but something that isn't right in your own tune can be embarrassing. Those things are not 100% so you can't trust them and anyway once you are practiced using your ear ends up being quicker than anything else.

Right, but if you useyour ears N THEN the software to further refine the selection, dont you get the best of both, and soemthing more accurate tehn you had doen youself?

Write a kick snare pattern n throw a bassline from your stock behind it, then pick 5 hi percs that you WOULD use for the tune, analyze em n compare the results of those 5 to the greater key of the tune.

See where Im goin with this? Like you said, something being all shoved in and out of tune with the rest of the song is embarassing.
