Its a useless piece of shit. Hardly anything in the spec department. No usb, no flash, no camera, nothing.
$600 for nothing. Seems about right coming from Apple.

No flash support definitely limits the device's bathroom use.
But on the positive side, a 9 inch screen with multitouch and a newly released SDK gets me all hot and bothered about possible DJ applications!

I think its really cool and awesome.. Overall totally pointless though. If it had multi-tasking, real apps and a real OS it could revolutionize that market. Atm it seems like a cool prototype that should stay a prototype.

The ipad is just something lighter for the trendy manbag-wearing fuckers to carry around. They've become weaker and less of men and haven't the strength to carry a real PC.
more useless apple garbage. the apple 2gs was the last decent thing they made.

WTF are they thinking?
I just read about the lack of multitasking. Seems ridiculous but then again in a way Apple is basically acknowledging this is not for powerusers, more for people with enough money for an extra gadget. No surfing the net whilst watching a film, no aim and internet and so on, seems ridiculous.
I thought I'd seen PDFs being used on it though? I could have been mistaken.
In any case this thing will be forever labelled the iTampon...

I have no problem carrying around my wide screen laptop.

Yeah it does seem a bit pointless. I am a fan of apple products, owning a mac book pro and an ipod classic, both of which i am happy with

However this to me just seems like a giant iphone with boosted apps... and thats pretty much it :/ as always with apple though, the design is the equivalent of tech porn.

I think someone should develop a $20-$30 DJ app that's based off an ableton-style mixing setup (ie: warping tracks plays them at a master bpm, hitting "play" starts track on next bar, etc):
This would essentially be a going-to-a-party-and-your-friend-wanted-you-to-bring-some-tunes or a I'm-on-the-bus-and-I-wonder-what-this-mix-would-sound-like kind of DJ program.
Click "iTunes", search for a song, tap and drag into deck A or deck B, hit "play" and it comes in on the start of the next bar, everything's in time, you fade up either the volume or the 3-band EQ's separately, finish the transition, stop previous track and clear the deck, grab another track, but this one's unwarped, so you tap the "warp" tab which takes you to the warping screen, you save your changes, then tap and drag to the deck and the whole thing keeps going smoothly!

Nice idea! Apple already have some DJ software (djay) which makes use of the itunes library (third party software though) so the idea of using iTunes in conjunction with it is easily doable. Apple or whoever came out with an app like this would be on to a win as not only would it make dj'ing portable in the sense that its in one unit, in your hand. It also allows other people who want to simply try dj'ing for a laugh/at a party etc do it with ease. However, no doubt it would have to be sold with an extra peripheral which would allow for cueing in the headphones. Not sure how that would be implemented either :/
Good drawing as well, loving the detail on the album art

Thanks

. I don't use headphones when I'm djing normally, so I wouldn't need them in this make-believe app either: I know what all my songs sound like, I check volume levels song-by-song before I arrive at a gig, bpm warping =
beatmatching, and if someone requests a song that I've never listened to before, well, I take a chance on that one playing a song I've never heard before.
The only thing you'd need at the end of the day is a breakout cable from 30-pin dock connector to either RCA or 1/8'' and you're ready to get some butts movin'!

Apple isnt innovative at all in the computer dept. sure the ipod is a big success, and the iphone is just rediculous, but when it comes to computers, they lack big time.
Consider this....
This HP here:

Vs
This ipad:
http://www.apple.com/ipad/specs/
For those who do not wanna click lemme post the highlights...
OS
HP - Windows 7
ipad - iphone OS Version something or another
winner - HP
Processors
HP - intel core duo su7300 -(1.30 GHZ)
ipad - 1 ghz apple custom
winner - HP
RAM
HP - 3 GB DDR3
Apple - Not listed (If it runs off of the main solid state drive, thats awesome, and wins outright.... but what if your pad is full? things to ponder..)
Winner - N/A until more is known
HD space
HP - 160GB on lowest model
ipad - 16GB on lowest model
Winner - HP
Display
Hp - 12.1 inch touchscreen with a 1280 by 800 resolution
ipad - 9.7 inch with a 1024 by 768 resolution
Winner - HP
Pen Stylus
HP - yes
ipad - No
Winner - HP
USB
HP - yes, 3 of them
ipad - no
Winner - HP
HDMI output
HP - yes
ipad - no
Winner - HP
External optical drive support
HP - Yes
ipad - No
Winner - HP
Both have mobile broadband capabilities
And the best part? the HP is fully expandable, while the ipad is sold as is.
but Apple is "the future" of computing.
Ill give the ipad 1 thing... its sure is shiney.

Ever since the iPod, Apple only made disappointments IMHO.
And their make-something-update-it-3-months-later-and-make-it-even-more-expensive-stratigy is getting quite boring.

All companies fucking do this shit.
I bet the guy that invented Gilette was like "YES! Im gonna make a razor with FIVE fucking blades". Then staggered them over 200 years.
