Valentines couldn't come at a worse time for me....I have 4 Family Birthdays in the first 2 weeks of Feb...My bank manager is pleased I'm single...

I fucking hate Valentines day. It's so pointless, if you have a bird why should there be a special day to 'prove your love'. Surely that's proven all year round?

It's in the same boat as Father's day, Mother's day, Easter, Christmas, Birthdays, etc etc etc; Bullshit.

They're fun as a child, but no one fucking tells you when you grow up it'll cost you the fucking earth.

I basically told my bird straight up from the beginning she'll be getting nothing on Valentines day. She's cool with it coz she doesn't have to spend anything on me either.

For her/my birthday too we don't do presents, just both chip in and do a citybreak or something.

That sounds like a pretty good arrangement.

I mean...these days, most people have everything they want anyway. So buying presents is getting more and more tedious/pointless.

At least this way you both get something you can both enjoy and remember. As opposed to another bit of jewellery or whatever, that she probably won't like anyway.
