isnt the superbowl just an american contest, or are there other teams from around the world in it?

Yeah its American only, but America is the world amirite? It was also the most watched sporting event in the world up until this year.

I was glad to see New Orleans win, but the first half seemed to have an unreal amount of commercials, even for the super bowl.

I always thought it meant more "the world of (american) football". I guess it just sounds more epic.
It's all about business and ads though, and sports comes second.
