Hey broken....... a little tip to get Logic to recognize AU's

Go into Logic 9 pull down menu, and under preferences there is a MANAGE AU Plugins or something to that effect. Then scroll through the list, find cyanide2 and there is a button to the left of the name that should have a check mark in it. If it doesn't then simply check it. Then go to thebottom left hand corner and find a button that says validate AU or something. Logic will go through and revalidate the Plug in. Sorry i dont have logic infront of me at the moment but this should work for you...

PS.... cyanide2 is great but unecessary if your synths are already pretty filthy

Here is a tip for making things filthy...... its not the bible but it really works for me....

LESS IS MORE when it comes to oscillators. Specially in ALBINO, only use more oscillators if you want to add frequencies to your sound, often I find I am just trying to get dirtier and dirtier and eventually i have a muddy sound that is often less awsome then a single Analog square or saw. Try the wavetable position knob in massive to get a different sound, and then CHORUS, REVERB, FX, partying, DISTORTION, BITCRUSH, DONT EVER BITCRUSH, PHASING, CHORUS, BE AWSOME.... any of these things combined with a single oscillator can make some great great great basslines. LESS IS MORE sometimes, but all the other times you'll have to put a little more into it. Cheers

Oh ya,,, albino tip - spread and saturation, i repeat, spread and saturation.. ok ok thats it

It *is* pretty top secret, but I think we can get away with talking about it now, enough people are using it in major tunes these days that it's not so much of a trade secret as it used to be. I heard one of the presets in a tune playing on bbc 1xtra the other day!!

Honestly man, just use the simplest synth you have (3xosc, operator or w/e) and throw a sine wave in there, play real low notes. there ya go.

You know I only actually properly heard some Mt Eden earlier today and shockingly it was worse than I expected XD people slate datsik and co on these forums a lot cos they don't dig the tunes but everyone agrees they do...whatever it is they do quite well. Datsik *does* make some pretty cool noises even if he has no understanding of melody. This 'Mt Eden' character not only doesn't understand music but also does not understand producing 0.o

I am in shock and think I need to puke.

Something which I discovered the other day was once you've made you crunchy noise sample, when it's in the piano roll have it play like 5 of the notes that you want, like if the note is C, have C4 C5 C6 and C7 playing. Though I guess you could resample it again

Right to make a big bassline you need to understand how it all works and the simplest way to do this is to use EQ and your levels

SUB/Kick/Bass/Mis/Top

So your learning then keep it simple, as you build up your level of understanding you can become more complex, aim for a simple two stage bass, then experiment with the sound

Create a sub using a sine wave add eq and put a low pass filter on filter out any frequency over say 90HZ this is now a sub sat at the bottom

SUB/

Next add an EQ to your drums and High Pass them at 90 making them sit on top of your sub

SUB/KICK/

Next add another synth select a simple wave form such as a triange 1 ocillator and add eq High Pass at 110 so it sits on the kick, try to make it sit between the kick and the snare by using your eq

SUB/KICK/BASS

now get a nice pattern going then start to experiment with the bass sound, add distortion maybe, maybe bitrate redecution, maybe add other ocillators maybe change the wave form to a square. a sawtooth... Maybe add a sample in this range and tune it to be part of the bass.... the world is now your oyster.

Look at compressing your Drums on a Send Channel for more weight, dont bother with compressing your bass for now just try to get a sound YOU LIKE not Datskiks...

Bear in mind that there have been a few posts about people hearing the same sounds in DATSIKS tunes and his response was he made them a while ago, by the time your ready to put out a tune that people will want to listen too that boat will have sailed a long time ago, so work on making your own sound.

Peace
Hey guys, first post. :o I'm relatively new to dubstep, and also relatively new to Reaper (which I have the full version of) and I'm now trying to figure out how to make my own dub tracks. -q-

I read this post and figured this would be a good start, but.. I'm stuck on the very first instruction, which is the bolded part in the quote. How do I add a sine wave? I tried heading over to the Reaper forum in hopes of figuring many things out, but, I'm rather confused. Do I add a new track, then add a new MIDI item, then add FX, like a synth or something for a sine wave effect?

Sorry if you get a lot of noobs, but.. I'm just super lost.
