Indeed, I am a purist, like most and believe its just one big genre but I don't wanna be associated with the hype stuff, not cause its not my scene its just people will come to a "deep an dark" night and expect it to be the other stuff and then you get 200 people confused/annoyed on the dance floor and visa versa., alas it was a matter of time.Sharmaji wrote:no doubtlegend4ry wrote:Ive been djin' it, making it and exposing it since 06 and I am still not bored of it.
that we have to specify "deep and dark" in dubstep is....
False flags original or remix both kill itserox wrote:same.
I dont mind some wobbles, it all depends how its done!
We need more dark, gritty, sub bass driven heavy beats.

link? I'd like to have a listen. I have Seven and Youngsta mix from a while ago, it's excellent.gravity wrote:that recent youngsta radio mix had loads of wicked stuff like this. oddly enough a lot of the stuff on that mix seems to come from ex-dnb producers (obviously left the scene because no one in dnb seems to be into deep stuff any more). actually i suppose its not that odd, given the kind of virusey tinge a lot of it had.

Midrange bass just gets irritating after a while. Anyone who can listen to anything by Unitz needs a medal.
and btw sort your drum samples out mate.
I try and check all Youngsta mixes because he plays the best music and his mixing is tight. Which mix are you talking about? I thought most the dark stuff was by the oldskool Dubstep producers and the only ex DnB producers I can think of are Kryptic Minds.gravity wrote:that recent youngsta radio mix had loads of wicked stuff like this. oddly enough a lot of the stuff on that mix seems to come from ex-dnb producers (obviously left the scene because no one in dnb seems to be into deep stuff any more). actually i suppose its not that odd, given the kind of virusey tinge a lot of it had.

Isnt it just..... Pure quality man. Pure quality.SesG wrote:Just listened to Kryptic Minds for the first time after suggestions from this thread, that stuff is amazing
I dont think Breakage falls into the dark area, hes a cheeser! only track I have heard and liked by him is Together.JFK wrote:Isnt it just..... Pure quality man. Pure quality.SesG wrote:Just listened to Kryptic Minds for the first time after suggestions from this thread, that stuff is amazing
You heard any Breakage mate? If not I reckon you would like that too, LOADS of
quality sub
Yeah I kind of see what you are getting at mate. With the vocal tunes he has on his album it would be easy to classify him as anything but dark.....serox wrote:I dont think Breakage falls into the dark area, hes a cheeser! only track I have heard and liked by him is Together.JFK wrote:Isnt it just..... Just had a quick listen to Veil. First off I can only hear Burial's flava in the track and altho it has atmosphere I would not call it dark, deep, but not dark.JFK wrote: Yeah I kind of see what you are getting at mate. But for me the addition of the (admittedly slightly cheesy) vocals gives such a stark contrast to the deep rolling sub bass and minimal drums that the bass and drums almost become the main focus of the tunes.
The obvious exception is "Vial" off of the album, which he coproduced with Burial. That is one hell of a dark tune.
Its all about what you classify as "dark" I suppose......
