I fucking hate going out in Leeds because of the stnuc.
Allow Hyde Park.
And they've infested the West Indian centre too. Last time I went to Exodus the place was
teeming with students.
Rah.

i live in hyde park

don't even bother with west indian for that reason except on rare occassion the line up actually changes from the same artists who seem to play there all the time

The West Indian centre used to be heavy.
I remember rocking up to SubDub sessions in like 2003 loving every second and getting lean up.

Didn't think students were hated so much. I just wouldn't want to live next to any is all.
They can be loud and all that, but they're usually less loud and annoying than the boisterous louts that get drunk and start making a nuisance of themselves in towns. You know, the ones who end up on the bloody telly. Students at least usually go out to have fun. These bumholes go out to get drunk and nasty.

i hate other students who go ridicolously out of their way to prove how cool they are, or are in with the latest thing. also i think other students who have just left their parents see it as finnally being free, and go out ad get fucked 24/7 cos there is nobody holding their hand. lived by myself before i went to uni so i think i grew out of that somewhat. also students are generally quite pretentious as they are becoming experts in whatever subject they are doing.
This.
I came to Uni at the age of 22 and aside from my social circle, (which tend to study hard, go to restaurants/the theatre,
and enjoy ourselves in slightly more "sophisticated," manner) everyone just gets wasted every day of the week.
It's not like I abhor all Uni events and the calibre of socialites it attracts, but weedies and alkies don't mix very well.

I have come from a building site job to philosophy at university at the age of 22, and I am doing more work now than I ever did working 9-5. The students who fuck about give the rest of us hard working people a bad name, and I probably dislike them more than anyone.
Just had one of my essays plagiarised by some waste who never shows up.

You'll be fine as long as you can prove you did the work - take the books and journals you used to the module convenor, and
show them your notes and references.
fuck the other guy, what a prick.

It's all sorted now. I sent my essay plans to the module leader a month and a half before the deadline, and my tutor said based on my past grades there's no doubt in his mind that the work is mine.
The annoying thing is though, they have decided (despite structural similarities/similarities in content) that the essays aren't sufficiently similar to constitute a case of plagiarism - there's no word for word, explicit copying or anything like that. So he gets away with it (he's actually an "acquaintance" of mine) and gets the grade. The guy never shows, never does the reading and has admitted to doing the essay the night before the deadline, with a draft copy I sent him to proof read on his hard drive. Now suddenly there's an essay structurally similar to mine knocking about, with similar content and a similar conclusion - doesn't take a genius to figure it out.

Ah, that's cool. As long as you don't get the stick when it comes down to it.
I've been in the same situation before too - I had to learn the hard way not to give anyone my work,
even if they are mates.

I really resent paying council tax not because I am against it as such but because there's no street lights where I live, they only collect the bins when they can be arsed to walk up the drive-way and the road always floods each time there's heavy rain because the fuckers won't clean the drains out. WTF am I paying for? Wankers.

This. It is very hard work for the people who put the effort in and actuallly have ambition to get something out of it, and sadly there is a quite a few who've managed to bag themselves decent GCSE's and then think they can stroll through it through lack of direction and fuck around which does annoy me tbh.
Also, aside from the stereotypical generalisations made, i think alot of resentment towards people in higher education comes from the fact that apparently alot of social status among peer groups/popularity here is earnt by dumbing yourself down and acting like a brain dead moron to fit in to the subculture.
