Sounds like Massive. Is that done using Thor and a filter?
thor, then several layers of eq, distortion, filters and other fx.

Which filters? there is one filter unit but I know it is possible to route synths thru filters on other synths. What kind of dist is used also? I dont use Reason anymore but its good to know how people are making popular sounds.

Think it goes through a Scream 4 set to tube, then further in the chain another Scream 4 set to tube. To get it wobbling just used the ECF-42 filter with the LFO from the Thor. Think I had it set to bandpass with a little bit of res.

Are you splitting your frequencies up? Are you using your effects chain as inserts or send/returns. Also why use the Env. Cont. Filter and not the filter within the synth your using?

not freq splitting, effects as a long chain of inserts. Maybe a touch of reverb as a send on the main mixer. Using a filter near the end of the fx chain rather than the synths own filter so that all the effects get filtered aswell

get an interesting texture of a sound in either malstrom or thor, use tons of automation... when I use LFO i try to avoid having the LFO > Cutoff, instead I connect the LFO to a various other things... on Thor try the wavetables on the mixed waves 2 and then LFO the position knobs... or for more pump LFO the Drive instead of Filter cutoff (careful with gain though)
on maelstrom you can create interesting sounds and textures by picking something wierd and not a square or sawtooth and simply lowering or killing the motion knob.
after all these just play with different screams and chorus and flangers, EQ, and voila
the ultimate trick is to play play play...
ive been playing around with reason as a toy since i was 11

Anyway bro you aren't going to like my answer but you just have to play with that shit until you can satisfy yourself with the results. If you want people to lead you by the hand you will never stand out you will just sound like the people who's advice you have taken. That is the real here.
Now listen to bro #1 do his thang in Reason
I totally agree 100% with you.theres no purpose to substitute their lack of knowledge on the subject with being a smart ass. I think its funny theyed even enter the topic. smfh.
As for the topic. IMO there is nothing special about reason when it comes to filthy bass. Id actually rather use my Massive and odd sum of vst effects to achieve the sound.even take the massive sound and massline it. then again each its own.

^Way to plug yourself without actually contributing anything to the thread. "There's no purpose to substitute [your] lack of knowledge on the subject with [self promotion]."
As bad as the sarcastic knobs Imo
Geez SunkLo don't be such a hardass...
As was said before formant filters and the Scream unit will get you some filth but play with the oscillator modulation within Thor. You can get some dirty AM sounds and add on some saturation and a comb maybe. Use that modulation matrix too

Hmm thats funny because im pretty sure i was mentioning MASSIVE in comparison to Reason aswelll. LOL a plug? smfh.
The fact you'd even say I lack knowledge in the subject made me laugh hysterically.

Just slightly off topic... I use purely reason and I think its under-rated.
I Just think its not the DAW its the person using it!
So yes you make teh filthy dubstep wobblez if you keep at it.

That is true. I wont lie though the Reason 5 looks smexy. I had reason 4 for awhile it just wasnt cutting it. I like loading random vst's and vsti's .
But im for sure going to give Reason 5 a try out.

HAi Guize!
Nothing special about the topic you've got going on here. I'd actually rather talk about cucumbers.
Here's a link to my cucumber farm website: LINK
ps I possess so much knowledge on every subject, I'll laugh hysterically if you imply otherwise
Saying "I like Massive more and look at my sweet tunez I made with it" isn't gonna make the OP go "Oh shit what am I doing looking for tips on the software I have?! I wanna be like THAT guy"
Maybe if you used Reason and were posting an example of results you got like a couple of other people in the thread.

Reason can produce absolutely filthy basslines with ease.
For instance, take a Malstrom, set the Motion control on the oscillators to 5 and then switch on the waveshaper and mess with the amount. If that isn't filthy (and horrible imo), then I don't know what is...
Another method is to switch on both oscillators on the subtractor and then to turn up the FM knob.
as mentioned previously, use the Scream 4 device. In the past I used to stack several in a row, each with different settings. This gave loads of results, especially when combined with the Malstrom index slider.
