this movie scared the living shit out me when I was little. Seriously I had to sleep in a pillow fortress for years! And now that I watched it again it's no wonder - that shit is fucked up!
I can never think of what is really inspiring when I have to, but these are some of my favorite movies:
Festen (the Celebration)
Alien
Ghost in a shell
Pulp Ficiton

good call on Jacob's Ladder, that's an inspiring one for sure.
The Fountain is my number one inspiring movie, it was a big influence on a forthcoming EP

Some of my inspirational films. With some favorite quotes:
Unforgiven - "We all got it coming kid" Badlands Heat - "Don't let yourself get attached to anything you are not willing to walk out on in 30 seconds flat if you feel the heat around the corner" The Insider Gattaca Quiz Show Apocalypse Now Blade Runner - "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" Stand By Me - "I never had any friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?" Goodfellas All the President's Men High and Low (Kurosawa) Infernal Affairs trilogy. Especially #2.

hahaha i watched that over the internet once.
first time i watched 'Holy Mountain' by Jodorowsky was very awe-inspiring visually
i enjoy Takashi Miike quite a lot, his film 'Ichi the Killer' never fails to blow my mind on many levels
the anime Akira throughout childhood was a big one
lots of 80's and 90's horror. i guess im just an 80's baby but i really find films like predator and the fly to be comforting in some weird way
but i think my favorite and most inspirational has gotta be 7 Samurai and Rashomon by Kurosawa. deeply moved by those for a while.
'Kids' by Harmony Korine has the realest dialogue of any film. dope movie
Deerhunter.....so many more
