Interesting
BUT
most important thing here i think, How would you go about the division?
If its just another forum saying advanced all the noobs would go there anyway.
And who decides what is advanced and not?
If there would be invites, who would pass them out, how would you get them?

Oh and i would be fucked.
Had 300 something posts on my other account but made a new one so people can identify me by my producer fancy name.
So what would happen to me then?
I'd say i have above average knowledge of music production, and would like to discuss deeper subjects to up my game

@Sharmaji - We talked about it from a different angle.. at the time there were a lot of threads about how to get signed, how to send demos, etc.. and we talked about the validity of a "what's next" type thread for people who have been signed to share their experiences about what to do next. How to go about getting a booking agent, how to keep sending demos out (cos the demo days don't stop after you have a couple records out), etc. But basically was from the same idea that there is a lot more experience and info held by DSF'ers than gets highlighted due to the number of entry-level stuff.
Personally I don't know the best way to go about it - which is why I threw the idea out in public. On the one hand, I don't like the idea of only certain people being allowed to post in an 'advanced' section - seems too much "members only" vibe.. on the other hand, it might be the only way to keep the nonsense questions out ("Hai guise - I've posted in every section (even the House forum lolz) - but I want reeeely advanced badman wobblez so I thought I would post in this section too").
The biggest problem with restricted authorship is how to decide. Post count etc are terrible measuring sticks. Also - I would want there to be a means for people to ask questions. Just because someone isn't super-advanced, doesn't mean they are incapable of asking a very valid and advanced question.
I am glad that there is an interest in funneling the more advanced knowledge and discussions into a place where they won't be diluted by questions about how to get cracked software to work.

This is a very valid point.
Also goes hand in hand with the question how to decide someone is advanced enough to get in.
People may have read and awfull lot about production, still make crap music, but ask really advanced question that inspire a lot of people to think in a new way etc.
Or sound egineers who dont make any music at all

End of the day this will probably be your answer. I can't imagine DSF being all that pleased with an elite section. I mean, I'd totally sign up if I were wrong but we'll see.

back to the question in hand... As I have stated in a post a while back, I think its a good idea, and i believe it will boost the advanced topics and everyone will learn a whole lot more instead of answering the same q's each week.
but I dont see this to 'divide and conquer', i can see people getting elitist about it which is wrong... Letting unapproved people
read the advanced section is a great idea! this allows poole to not feel segregated, as in these modern times its all to easy to divide up community groups (just look at council estates

), and once they have either, in deadly post; been approved by a member of the forums staff or as you suggested some kind of voting platform. Either could work well, and i believe will grant a better experience here for the more 'well known' artists. I can see it attracting bigger names back to the board, as im no big-timer but have started to stray from this forum in search for fresher, be it more 'advanced' pastures.
But yeah i think it deserves a separate subforum for sure!

why not just create an advanced production forum, & when someone posts shit that should be in the production forum, they gets flamed like fuk!
