Didn't watch the video, but from what I read in here if it's as next level and good as made out then it's not really much more expensive than a Pioneer CDJ, so surely people would buy it?

I think this kit is more geared for 'House & Techno' dj's, their tunes are really long and have constant 4x4 beat pattern. These dj's will have enough time to mess around with effects during the mix. My mate is a big 'House' producer/label honcho and is endorsed by Pioneer. They gave him a pair of Cdj-2000, so i'm sure he'll be getting this next.

Great piece of kit, but for D and B, Hiphop, and Dubstep dj's, I think they would rather just mix tunes on 2 decks, and lay down the latest banger.

This, exactly.

It is fancy and cool but i'd rather not.

I have never been a big fan of Pioneers stuff but I have to admit this looks fun as fuck. Unfortunately I don't see myself ever justifying the price tag. If one falls off the back of a truck watch the fuck out  I kind of agree that it looks more like a live performance than djing but to be honest I am getting a little bored of traditional djing or even djing altogether. I am feeling like it is about time to go in the direction of total live stuff. Still I will probably doing it without the aid of this mixer unless that really takes off for me heh.

with every kid and his nan owning a copy of virtual DJ and having abundant use of the "sync" button DJing as a artform has lost quite a bit of respect I think.

I mean, obviously turntablism is still top fucking notch, and so is pulling off a mean set with pure vinyls - but just standard DJing with cd decks or a laptop - i'd rather see an artist do somthing to set themselfs apart from the cdj kiddies and learn to do some crazy live stuff on somthing like this

either that, or go digging in the crates and pull off a sick set on wax

Yeh but why? All the listeners want it some tunes to dance to... Fancy stuff is only really about self pleasure and other DJ's in the crowd... As a producer who's learning to DJ PURELY to promote my own music some more, I fail to see why people are always banging on about how much the sync button sucks, when really all the listeners want are some tunes played consistently and a god like figure to make them feel like they've made it worthwhile going to one event and not another...

Although I must admit, I probably have a very possible mistaken opinion on the subject as I've never played out. But I'm speaking from the listeners point of view, the ones who actually pay the money lol

i dunno man, I think it depends where youre playing.

Like if its just a random club student night constant music to groove to is all you need, but I think live performance's at clubs that get in specific artists catering for a specific type of listener...

who knows - but from a technology point of view you cant deny its rad.

id love to be able to use something like that. but i got confused just watching the video.

and they say youll want to grow extra hands... well why make something that requires 6 hands to operate?

For sure man, I mean... If people have paid to see YOU especially then I suppose it's time to up the levels... :) But I hear people saying these days 'if you're not doing more than the standard then you'll never make it' I can't help but think that this is untrue. If people enjoy the music you play and your aura and all get on the dancefloor then that's what matters to the promoter/event manager/venue owner so they'll bring you back... If people don't get on the dancefloor and you don't want to change your style, then there's always other places you can play... Like people who spin more monged out music could find a nice little coffee bar-esque place to sure... It's just all about dedication to finding your breaking point...

whoah, cant see myself ever needing it but still epic! one thing though, same problem i have with some cdj's, it makes standard vynl mixing look talentless now. If people started using shit like this all the time noone would appreciate the skill that goes into mixing vynl. they would think everyone that djs literally just hits a button and its in time! Loads of people i know already think live djs just hit a button and they're in time, and think that mixing is just using effects and choosing songs in order :u:

beatmatching is no science
anything that helps a performer cut down on remedial skills and focus on selection is a good thing to me

Did anybody nearly shit their pants when that dood's "third hand" emerged from his crotch and started fucking with the controls?

HOLY FUCK

If Tommy Lee can blow a boat horn with his, I can at least work a 7 band crossfading graphic eq with mine.

CDJs take just as much skill as anything else, not all cdjs have syn buttons, dont be thick.
