ordinarily i see your point, but israel is different
mainly because the population has no problems with the atrocities they commit (or they don't show it)
instead, they seem to love defending their actions
You either have standards or you don't. Making exceptions ruins it for you.
Like saying "Ordinarily I'm not a biggot, but with Israel it's different"
You're judging the actions of a government as if they were the actions of the people. I'd gather a rather nice chunk of the decisions made by your government don't accurately reflect your personal views.

So question to the Aussie thread starter.
If I play in your country does that mean I support the invasion of Iraq? Or your countries wild ass censorship?

@pkay
trust me, i have just as much resentment for the uk and the usa as israel, but let's not detract from the issue at hand
the fact is, israel has been doing this shit repeatedly for 60 years, they became the sizan, and the palestinians have become the new jews
i don't agree with the afghanistan war, but to the average person in this country, the war is justified because of 9 11 (let's not go there)
israel is just butchering palestinians, and now foreign nationals, constantly unchecked
and they won't allow aid etc etc
until that stops, everything about israel should be boycotted
at least the usa and uk are a bit more subtle when going about their evil ways abroad

I'm half israeli and have spent enough time in Israel to get a good feel of what's going on there. Not everyone supports what's going on, just like not every palestinian supports what Hamas/PLO does and the positions they put innocent lives in.
Ultimately it's a fucked situation. It's a holy war that will go on for centuries after you and I are in the ground. If Israel gave back every bit of land that was mandated to them decades ago, picked up, and moved to antarctica, Muslim extremists would still find some way to bitch about Israel and try and start shit. Let's not act like Israel is all hopped up on crystal meth just running around with guns shooting pregnant women in the stomachs and rolling around in their blood or some shit.
Hamas/PLO vs Israeli government is never going to work. Too much history, too much hostility. It will take leaders greater than theirs to ultimately solve the problem, however the great powers of the world (your country and my country alike) are petrified at the prospect of becoming involved. Until the great powers of the world grow the balls to put the 2 troublemakers in their respective corners, fucked up shit will continue to happen. Hamas/PLO will continue to target innocents, Israeli government will over-react to something, Hamas/PLO will react to that, Israel will react to their reaction, etc etc etc

by thinking
I'm locking this thread. We've covered it before and got precisely nowhere, with the exception of having people threaten each other over the internet.
I'm not coming down on either side of this argument in public, but I will play devil's advocate - do you think all foreign artists would be right to boycott performances in the UK/US for those countries' involvement in the Iraq invasion? Or would that be incorrectly assuming that every person that lives in those countries supported the military action?
Anyway as I say, thread locked before it gets even more heated and turns circular. Take in the SNH if you must but I ask/warn everyone to keep it civilized.
