I live in Atlanta, the current rap capital of the united states and even I think american rap is long dead. its all bubblegum pop crap. I can't even walk into a club without hearing that week's latest trend, which is usually harmonized boys autotuned on top of some generic beat (all the way turnt up? Gtfo) Drake is supposed to be the new face of HipHop? Lil Wayne doesn't even know where is face is half the time, yet somehow winds up whining over ever track out.

My roommate is heavy into grime and always sends me the latest. I bought Kano's 2005 album when it came out, and that's how I ultimately got into dubstep. There is passion behind a lot of the grime music I'm hearing. The MCs seem extremely into what they do, and the producers are the same way. American rap is all about image and money. I wanted to not be one of those people who say things like that, but it's just so obvious.

I still don't see what defines it. How is it not just rap, but with a faster beat, and a fast flow? I mean I guess its not really hip hop cuz its doesn't have the same roots and the whole sampling thing and general amen break, but is that all it needs to be it's own thing?

get 'boy in da corner' by dizzee rascal, 'axiom' by durrty goodz, and then spend time on youtube looking at instrumentals by Youngstar, Jon E Cash or Plasticman.

also, to the guy chattin that people from the states don't know shit about grime, R U DUMB? a lot of us love grime over here!

What i really wanna do is post up some 04/05/06 Meridian sets, thats some proper grime.

grime was definately my missus then my love affair with dubstep took over, never really check for it much anymore, apart from d double, trim and big h occasionaly. All the new shit sounds wicked though, the kinda stuff Elijah and Skilliam and that are playing.
