Alot of what looks like modulation in the presets is actualy just Macro controls attached to certain things - doesn;t necessarily make the sound any better, just easier to modulate.victoryaloy wrote:modulating wavetable position is sick.. I'll have to try modulating between A and B.futures_untold wrote:1st Question > By layering all three oscillators and using the modulators on the oscillators wavetable positions, you'll achieve some pretty complex stuff. Further to this, you may want to modulate on LFO to change between shape A and shape B at the same time as getting faster and slower. Finally, chuck a delay unit over the master lol.![]()
I just see a lot more going on in the presets that I see in my patches..
and it got me curious to see what others are doing!
u obviously didnt look for long, there are four envelopes amongst the tabs... prolly my most important tweaks in massive... (more then the lfos)djdeadb3ats wrote:how to draw in envelopes ??I couldn't find it and got board of looking
im not asking how to use envelopes im asking can you draw in your own slopes and what not iv seen tutorials with sqiggly lines and not just straight lines , is this possible or are they just the presets in the envelopesLdizzy wrote:u obviously didnt look for long, there are four envelopes amongst the tabs... prolly my most important tweaks in massive... I need sum input on Modulator Sidechaining in massive... i cant seem to find any logic in them... ive read the manual but still.. when do u use those!?!?
I think you're looking for the loops you can add in the sustain stage, you have to do two things to get that happening:djdeadb3ats wrote:im not asking how to use envelopes im asking can you draw in your own slopes and what not iv seen tutorials with sqiggly lines and not just straight lines , is this possible or are they just the presets in the envelopesLdizzy wrote:u obviously didnt look for long, there are four envelopes amongst the tabs... prolly my most important tweaks in massive... really cool w/ the two comb filters in parallel, using lfo to detune the pitch slightly, key tracking gives the lower notes more attack while keeping the higher notes slightly muted. theres only one oscillator putting out a quick little blip before it cuts off completely (env 1), and then the feedback of the two comb filters carry the sustain. Really cool sound designamphibian wrote:Harpolodic - one of the most complex, but also (imo) the most beautiful preset in massive. That synth in itself inspired me to write a song for my missus
Sorry ignore the 2 because its not doing anything right now. Changing the 4 changes the Phase Modulation on osc one if I have set it up right?:) sliding the 4 changes the value, not sure what exactly but it sounds good to me heh.Fbac wrote:@serox: I dont quite get what you mean,, You have the "2" macro there for automation but you also want to automate what "4" is doing as well? (but also want to keep the automation of the envelope4 as well) ... What about automating the attack or -decay-level in the "4" env .
Yeh I just wanted to automate what sliding the 2 up/down doesFbac wrote:Yes, changing the blue line 4 around the mod knob will determine how much the amp envelope will modulate the phase knob.
so whats the question? you want to be able to automate that value in your daw rather then the envelope? (sorry if i dont get the question) (instead of the 4 amp envelope you could have a yellow macro and then draw it in your daw how extreme you want the phase when you want the phase)
done the first part. How do I enable the macro to automates the number 4 under phase modulation?Fbac wrote:aha okay, So in the top right hand side is the attributes tab (between synth and browser) under the 2 knob you click to get a drop down menu (may say NA to begin with) You can then select mod wheel or in this case 14.undefined. Now you go to your daw (im in cubase) and select macro 2 and you should be able to automate it now. Sorry im not on Fl so you may need to get someone elses help. (you could select mod wheel if you have a keyboard and record it)
yeh I get you but where do I drag the macro if I want it to move this number 4 slider? :sFbac wrote:In the bottom right are the macros, now 2 says 14undefined. Just to the top right of the 2 is a little plus , you click this and then click to modulate like you would a Lfo or Env. is that what you mean?
jheez thats confusing lol! all i wanted to to is be able to draw in automation for that blue line on the dial?!Fbac wrote:Oh i get you ... you want to modulate the modulation.. you want the macro to change the amount of blue slider? Dont think its possible.. BUT.. what is the 4 env doing. Just goes up stays at full then comes down, stays down a little (release) then goes back up? Well if thats the case then we could put the macro next to it.. just like in your very first picture. and automate by hand this change. As far as im aware (and i may be wrong) you cant macro a modulation like that.. What you could do is set the macro 3 to the "level" at the bottom left of the Env4 tab, then when you automate you can turn macro 3 down, thus turning off the envelope then have macro 2 on the phase knob bring it up, (this way you wont get any conflictions) (sorry i couldnt be of much help) (or maybe make the blue slider around the phase knob go al the way around and then change the amp envelope attack to it only goes half way, then make it increase, you can add extra direction to the envelope by dragging the loop off to infinte and changine morph one and 2 drop down menus.)
