the multiband feature on it is great
It just has so much flexibility which I have found lacking in other plugins, the way you can fine tune it so much to get the perfect sound.

Have been bit crushing a bit nawadays, used to not at all. I don't bitcrush bass and what not, I like to bit crush high stuff, drum ambiance, hats and cymbals. If you rock the bit crusher you can create melodies out of your hats. Yay boi, there is more to it than just yoi yoi.

I use NI guitar rig, it has some good distortion modules and an awesome digital lofi/bitcrusher effect

Izotope Trash 2
Can't recommend it enough. It's an entire suite built around distortion. Does for distortion what izotope ozone5 does for mastering. To name afew producers that mention it...Noisia, Skrillex (yes...even Skrillex), and KDrew all mention Trash 2 as there go to distortion plugin. Its not cheap....but lets face it if ur meddling with anything multiband your not a novice and u more or less know what u want.
Beyond the presets and individual selectable distortion types it includes a waveshaper that allows u to draw in ur own custom distortion, multiband compressor and gate, 2 parametric EQs w/ 8 filters (all of them interchangable between many filter types) and ALL have there own modulation section, a convolution section to morph the sound into any space far beyond simple cab emulations, and finally a delay with multiple selectable types to choose from. Routing options can be highly customized between each module...and the 2 EQ's/filters can be routed in sequence or parallel.
Not hatin on ohmicide...I have both. I'm just a big believer in Trash 2 now having experienced and compared the 2 for myself. Before i thought ohmicide was the only multiband distortion worth anything given all the hype. I personally found Ohmicide hard to use in comparison....and not nearly as feature laden as Trash 2.
Weird this izotope plugin doesnt receive as much praise as Ozone by the media and masses. It may not be a game changer the way ozone 5 was for mastering....but it's definitely not something to overlook given the awards and honorable mentions its received.
