...which should I try next?

Wheres the logic support? why reason? Sure its not bad but no other instuments! Subtractor and Malstrom aren't exactly the best.
It is all about sync'n up the lfos and cutoffs for the mighty fwab! Easier to automate on logic and sounds better!
Lets hear it for logic!

ableton Live 5.0. With all the vst options and having a wave editor prog I see no reason to go anywhere else.

Ableton, a bit of FL5 and, free plug-ins. I also like madtracker to break up breakbeats, and whatever else i can play with.
Also it is important to have some synths to work with. You don't have to break the bank. I've found the Ensoniq sq-80 and the dx11 for a very good price.
I also love soundforge for many reasons.

i´ve been using cubase for a long time (without noteworthy hardware equipment, just producing natively with Vsts) but in that times the style i did was very different from what i do now (mainly idmish stuff). i switched to reason about the same time i got into dubstep (thats just 1,5 months ago

)
well i think cubase is the more "professional" software, because it's "open" in terms of vst and hardware support. but reason is just more spontaneous. since i switched to reason i finish at least 1-2 tracks every week

i mainly use Reason/Recycle.. i like sampling stuff in rex files and rinsin the scream 4 distortion.
i use Ableton for remixing and live sets.. beat repeat is sweet.
i'd like to get into Reaktor tho..

I use reason for doing most of my composing, then I bounce out to Cubase for polishing the mixdown and using some VST's that I can't usein reason.
Had a go at ableton, but my PC shat itself, absolutley raped the CPU.

Cubase all the way!
at least it's good for me because i like to work mainly with samples, i find you can get alot more of an original and abstract sound.
