Don't mind me I'm just here to hate on the Celtics for beating the Magic and losing from those LA junkies afterwards :)

Edit: Sorry for interrupting your Boston teaparty.

I've lived in boston for about a year and never had any trouble finding dubstep. Bassic is a solid monthly with a loyal following. Dubwise on sundays is a good funky/dubstep/garage night. SubDuction crew is starting to bring in bigger names every month to various venues. The shows are there...you just gotta look.

:z: x2 ....forgot to mention dubwise, and now that I'm thinking Bassic sometimes throws down at rise, which is after hours/18+ ...it's rare but I love it when they do get booked there.

if anything it's only getting better. martyn apparently packed the goodlife on a friday night when he played (was out of town sadly). everyone else also stated the obvious nights, but there is also the music ecology nights on tuesdays at wonder bar in allston. they focus more on big hip hop/glitchy kind of beats but they're booking Mount Kimbie for late september which rules.

seems like bigger promoters are bringing in the bigger, more mainstream names this fall. caspa sold out the middle east downstairs and rusko is headlining at royale in october.

bassic does play Rise sometimes (usually in the lounge). Todd Edwards is playing there this weekend and the lounge is all dubstep/garage/2-step djs. cannot wait.

I'm from around the area and can definitely feel the lack of Dubstep in and around Boston. After visiting NYC one day last year, the difference was almost like night & Day. Actually all forms of EDM and even Hip-Hop has always suffered in Boston. There was actually an article I read a few days ago that explained the situation pretty well:

http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx?1228

I respect the promoters putting on great shows (There have been some nice ones this year) but the problem I still have right now is that I just don't know when some of these events are going down. Unless I see a post here or an event listing from one of the facebook groups, I won't know an event is taking place until the last moment or after it has already happened. I'm sure there's not much that can be done about it but it just sucks to find out someone like Benga or Roska was playing the day (or month) after it happened.

The next step I'm hoping for an established weekly event (like Element's DnB Night). Hopefully having a weekly platform that promote not only international but also local DJ's & Producers can help grow the scene here. Hopefully beyond the "this is interesting" level it still seems to have to the locals here.

BTW, If it ever goes down and you need a DJ, let me know :D .........If you're just looking for a DJ, Just let me know! 8) (Example below)

Sorry for the late reply but Boston certainly does have a scene. Ive been running BASSIC with a collective of amazing individuals (Damian, Dabu, Scotch-1, Panda'ia, & Prodigal Son yeah the ragga producer & even Alex Incyde before he moved to NYC) and for the last 3 years we've built something awesome alongside some other great dj's & producers that have come up out of Boston ranging from techno to house to DnB. Although there are some restrictions like 21+ at our night there have been shows that 18+ and I can gladly say that if you ask any one who has played BASSIC they will tell you how much they enjoyed our party. Word of mouth speaks for itself.
Regards

Eddpaul that RA article is more of the view of Soul Clap than the whole story. Not that I'm putting them down, but its based on an interview with Charlie & Eli, not by factual evidence and documentation. Midweek techno is not the longest running dance night. Elements has been 11 years strong so I question the validity of that article.
