Yeah I have to agree - I like where that's going. Snare is bit too tinny imo considering the track is somewhat "deep". Perhaps a woodblock or rimshot would suit a little more? The initial pad/synth is very nice.

Yeah the snare fit until I compressed this as a temporary master for soundcloud, Im hoping thats where the problem was, but if it sounds out of place in the final, Ill be changing it.

@grime syndicate - Cool ideas, though the track seems to be lacking punch to it. Based on my listen, I think there are a couple things going on (emphasis on "THINK"). Your drums and your sub-bass. The bass drum I think needs to be a different sample. That one seems muddy and without and sort of snap too it. It just sort of rumbles along instead of punching. The snare seems overcompressed? The snare is lacking the attack/snap and so it doesn't cut through the track as well. The Sub-bass seems like it could be compressed slightly to sort of hold it together, it seems a bit unstable. Just a couple mixing notes!

@naw - Not really my style of track, but that's irrelevant! Anyways, I think the overall production quality is fairly high. It sounds good, but I'm not a huge fan of the dissonant note fluctuations on those higher notes in the bassline/melody. Otherwise, it sounds pretty good.

@Steeple - I really like it. Like, a lot. Not sure where to go from there, but you are off to a strong start. I'll be interested to see where it goes from there.

And if you all wouldn't mind I have a track that is in need of some feedback! The track is still somewhat of a draft (obviously). And hasn't been mixed, so bear with me. Thanks in advance!

Getting in at the start of the month, here is the start of a 140 thing I want to finish up:

Soundcloud

Will give other tunes a listen and throw some feedback this weekend. Marshy's song is solid stuff, really digging the synths and sub a lot.

Hey what's up guys

I've been on DSF for a bit but I just changed my artist name so here I am again fresh and sparkly :)

This track is actually a gabber track but it has some Dubstep influences.

Tear it up as hard as you can in regards to anything...structure, arrangment, mixing...everything.

@Basic A awesome sound scape you build throughout the track's progression. i'm imaging walking through a dark, foggy forest. don't really know what needs improvement tbh

@Grime Syndicate really diggin the groove in there. blends well together. excited to see what you come up with to finish it off.

@Deniss1 that melody really got my head bobbin'. nice drum progression in the intro as well. i gotta say i expected the bass synth to be a bit different than that when it came in but still cool!

i as well posted too late for the August thread so here's my dubstep attempt:

@xhiler8d

I think the intro to your tune (the part with the dubby, syncopated synth) is the best part. In my opinion you should elaborate on that idea as opposed to breaking out the "jump-up dubstep" synths. However, it should be noted that I'm pretty partial towards songs without those heavy synths in them. Either way, I think it sounds good, you just need something to separate your track from the rest of the dubstep communities and I think that intro is a good place to start.

@ransom
Wow. Very well done. Great use of bass. The only thing I can think of at the moment is the outro/ending. It seems a tad abrupt. Play around with smoother ways to come out of the track maybe? Other than that it really sounds great. Well done.

thx for feedback on earlier tune

@rightontime.. dope wabble... maybe adjust amp envelope unless ur going for the fade thing... proper sub bass!!

@xhilr8d this shit is hard... reminds me of a borgore architecture... no complaints maybe a second drop midway with more excitement/movement

@ransom too repetitive for my liking.. kick pattern is dope tho, mix in more sub and mid into ur wabble :)

heres another of same kinda format.. headphone mix :e:

@naw - not my kind of dubstep but I really like some of the elements. The formant around 1.04 is particularly nice and I think the track is rather nicely balanced. A few things however - the snare could do with some thickening, for a bit more prominence and you definitely need some more sub bass. Hop to it! :D

@xhilr8d - really like the dubby synth at the start, followed by the pipes. Very nice. The vocal sample is great but I think the use of the formant filters kills the vibe you originally had :(

@ransom - that is some very dope deepness you got going on. I really like a lot of the incidentals you got going on, but I think the sub might need a break every now and then :P

Guys here's an update to a track I posted earlier - not sure if anyone got to see it beforehand, all good if not. Really liking where it's heading - also my first real dive into resampling and doubling up effects.etc. It has had a profound effect on the track :P
