It's often just hearing one sentence over and over the same drums. It's painful.

The addition of some melody is kind of nice. But it's still a kind of abrasive stupid genre overall to be honest
What, like speedcore? :t:

I only have about 15 speedcore records. It's not like I'm obsessed with it. Even so I still find hearing one line over and over a little intrusive.

My 2D Design professor told me that repetition was the key to good design.

only juke ive heard that ive liked tbh, probably cos of a lack of repetitive vocals, and it has a fair bit of variety.

it's dance music. that's where the term footwork comes from. so to try and intellectualize the sample work, is kind of missing the point. im not one to talk tho cuz i'm guilty of over-intellectualizing music all the time, but yeah, it makes sense in the dance im sure. i haven't been to a strictly juke show, but i could imagine the energy on the floor and in those dance circles is nuts

I like a lot of Juke, but the vocal edits that DJ Nate does just annoy the shit. They're just so random and counter-intuitive.

The chicago juke scene draws a lot of parallels between the london dubstep scene for sure, and of course it's also focused on bass. I've showed a lot of dubstep to some guys I've known from juke/house for years and they are into the more percussive tunes, not much into the synths at all which I found interesting. A couple of them said it was too slow though.
What do they think of jungle?
I only know one of them has listened to it and he was really into it. I lent him my "This is jungle" CD a few years ago and I never saw it again haha. The one that started with Leviticus - The Burial and Shy FX/UK Apache - Original Nuttah, from 95 or so. That was a damn good compliation.

i'm not a fan of a lot of the vocals used in juke but to ignore an entire genre based on one way of using vocals is stupid. that's like saying you don't like dubstep because you hate filth
