Yeah, fuck that notion, a lot of my favorite 2step tunes are dodgy remixes of pop stuff.

how the heck did this sophisticated groove at the beginnings of dubstep
precurse today's grating chainsaw which many now think of as dubstep?

My garage knowledge is pretty dire though, I own no more than about 20 90s garage records :oops:
