can you mix solidly in your bedroom? then fuck it play out, get drunk and have a good time. it's a completely different experience either way, so you gotta pop your cherry sometime.

oh look someone who has a life, getting worked up over upstateface at 3:00am on a friday

But seriously O.P. ... if you have doubts, its a good sign your not. I know people are gonna tell you that you should be able to mix for 2 hours or w/e, but I can do that already, its a big combination of things that lead to being ready.

In my opinion, if you dont have alot of local clout, and your not sure you can REALLY shine, its not time... I wouldnt wanna get on stage and be just another DJ... Id wanna get up and do some shit haha... if this makes any sense at all? And also, I dont wanna get up and do the best set of my life, if Imma step down and noones gonna care who was even up...
typing 1 line of text = getting worked up? ... mind = blown.

in all honesty though upstateface is basically a troll loser. i even heard him mention he has social anxiety once in offtopic section, yet he acts like a complete dick on these forums non stop.. what gives? i never see him contribute anything other then spam bandwagon jumping bullshit. aka alpalca pics etc.. kid is a clown and does not deserve to post here. he contributes nothing. i actually hate him more then dza. its like little homophobe. loser kids just use this site as their diary and just post pointless bullshit one-liners that help no1 out except their own pathetic ego. hope u homophobe. rot.

I don't think anyone is ready when they first play out cause you always have a certain expectation of whats going to happen to be fair it never pans out how you expect it to.

Just go out there, have fun, don't get to drunk/high and spin your choons. Even if you're ready that doesn't mean you're going to get bookings, my first booking was when I had been DJing for about 4 months and I just did all the mixes I knew I could do without fuckin' up and I enjoyed myself.. Its only now about a year an a half later that I can confidently pick anything out of my bag and put it against another tune and be confident and throw down (without sounding arrogant) an amazing set ( i mean, I am happy with myself when I DJ out these days).

You might have great DJs skills but playing out is a very different ballgame and a lot easier to do something wrong and get away with it - so its more about how you react to the crowd opposed to your undoubted DJing skills.

The only way to find out if your ready to play out, is to actually get out an play. Everyone can mix 2 tunes together, the real art is reading the crowds reactions and interacting with them. When i first started playing out was at a dingy club in Birmingham, playing some early electro. Crowd wasnt feeling it so i started playing a bit of everything to get some bites, i ended up playing stuff like Noisia, Current Value to a packed room. Best feeling in the world. Just get out there mate, the best way to conquer them nerves is to jump in the deep end!
