I have no idea what came out this year as I am just now getting into dubstep but the tracks that I've enjoyed the most so far are probably...
Foes (16bit Fuck Hoes Remix) - Borgore
3 Fist Style - Datsik
(not really sure if this qualifies as dub but the bass pounding after the drop is amazing to me) Need Your Loving (Felix Cartal Remix) - Laidback Luke
Pro Nails (Rusko Remix) - Kid Sister
Rock Bottom - Caspa/Rusko
Last Drop - MRK1
Hard (Caspa and the Others Remix)[feat. Neham Generals & David Rodigan] - Breakage
The Churn of the Century - Bassnectar
Hurt You (Subscape Remix) - She Is Danger
Don't Do That (Flux Pavillion remix) - Culprate
One Trick Pony ft. SOFI - Deadmau5 (saw this live with mau5 in the cube it was fucking amazing wasn't expecting him to play dubstep at all mind blown)
3K Lane - Jakes & Joker

I'm sorry if this is "mainstream" type dub, this is just what I enjoy I've really enjoyed the suggestions before mine and I'm trying to increase my dub music collection, please don't flame me too hard ^__^

no need to apologise mate, whatever floats ur boat! this is an open forum, and if some of the above got you into dubstep than thats nothing but a good thing, so enjoy browsing some other suggestions people have put here and good luck!!

its lucky you put the disclaimer cos some people get RINSED by the purists/ elitists on here for liking the 'wrong type' of dubstep..

a top 5 is ridiculously hard obviously...

my stab at it would be-

Distance - Ill Kontent (Forthcoming Tectonic)
Truth - Juno (Aquatic Lab)
Kryptic Minds - Can't Sleep (Forthcoming Osiris)
Distance - Beyond (Chestplate)
Vaccine - Cascade Failure (Nonplus)

now normally this would also go into my list any day, but can we really still call it dubstep?

^^ good question, you can ask that about a lot of stuff that is knocking around at the moment. I think probably still yes, but probably more fits into the whole future garage/ uk bass music monikers better...

a lot of people have called for Night Slugs to be label of the year, who whilst producing excellent records, isnt exactly dubstep as I know it. But I guess that is just the sound evolving, spreading its wings into more house/ techno/ UK funky influence...which is why a more generalised term as above might be more appropriate...
interesting point though really, as i am trying to get it al sorted out in my head too.

i've always been in favour of a very broad definition of dubstep, and i love the way that some labels and artists are really pushing the sound in new directions in 2010 (eg. Hessle Audio). but as for the above mentioned tune, despite the fact that it's one of the best tracks ive heard in ages in all possible genres, i'd say its still just that little too for from the dubstep 'template' (if such a thing even exists any more) for any dubstep to be recognisable in it any more. but then again, thats just my 2 cents.

I thought that those were all dubstep songs? Why isn't this considered dubstep? If it's not then what is it lol? I'm trying to educate myself, please enlighten me. How do I distinguish your definition of dubstep from what I posted? I honest to God thought what I posted is dubstep...I've only been listening to this for a few months, help me to evolve from a dubstep novice to someone who knows what they are talking about...
