Your stuff sounds good. One of the producers on my label uses what is probably not even that good but by some miracle his mixdowns are absolutely brilliant. Whatever works ya know! I can certainly feel the skint crew as I have been there all my life. It has taken forever for me to get to the point where I actually have decent monitors and cans and I am very thankful for it!

Wow that is not good man. Sounds like you should have gotten a free phone and used the money for some real headphones imo. Maybe you aren't that serious about it tho I dunno.

Hehehe, big ups man! Glad you're liking the mixdowns, proper compliment coming from yourself :D :m: Yeah, as long as your ears know how the speakers colour sounds then you shouldn't have a problem producing on crappy speakers :) Guess it makes you a more experienced producer when you're able to work on less-than-ideal setups too...

Hehe, saaaaaafe! Big ups the Logitech crew ;) I was going to buy some M-Audio BX8A monitors at the start of the year (and I actually bought a soundcard to run the sound out of my PC to them) but I overspent my student loan so I had to cancel the purchase :( :P It's cool though, I don't mind waiting... I'm not exactly in a rush, and again they don't have a subwoofer with them (but you can get an extra M-Audio one for a coupla hundred quid or so :D) but their frequency response is like 40Hz-20KHz so I'm not exactly going to shell out for a £295 subwoofer right away ;)

You know, as a rule, I would try and keep your sub down, just so it's in the track, clearly audible, but not overpowering, and try and high pass anything which is using low frequencies unecessarily (a spectrum analyzer can help find which instruments are), this will help in the late mixing/mastering stages, you'll be able to get a louder percieved volume. Remember: aslong as the low frequencies are there, a big system will produce those frequencies, and it will sound good.
It is highly recommended that you visit my YouTube page, and listen to some dirty music, it will do you good:

no miracle, just lots of hard work in really getting to know your setup and it's limitations.
