listen the funtcase masterclass is about as useful as a fish on a bicycle.

however you should still buy the issue, the main article is really really good, as well as tips on writers block and finding inspirition.

I was going to scan in inspirition article onto dsf but id thought id be breaking rules.

Samples are good too

Boosting things just sounds so wrong. If you are going to do it then do it a little on snares. I dont see why people have to do it tho. There are a million drum packs out there that have every kind of hit ur looking for.

As for boosting mid range bass and subs, wrong.

I dunno why people are so up in arms about this... Everyone has their own individual style and thought process in making tunes.

I watched this, and although I didn't learn anything I didn't already know, I find it fascinating seeing how other producers work in their own individual style. He boosts his mids at the very beginning because thats 'his sound'.

I hate elitism, and I believe that his music is as great as Mala's. Just different styles of dubstep.
and Legend4ry, why the facepalm? Just because you saw it in whsmiths? Thats really shallow man. / reading books by their covers.
This isn't a personal calling out thing, but funk me, people need to open their minds and realise that one way, isnt the only way..

From what I remember about Cookie Monsta posting on here, hes pretty cloak and dagger about his production methods.

Cyrus, Distance, Mala or someone like that, thats who they need to get in for a masterclass.

It is interesting seeing there different techniques just as far as learning from it I didn't get loads but still cool to see how bigger prods work with reason.

Ok, not watched the video yet but the Funtcase tutorial is a bit thin on the ground. Reason specific, good run through of his drum track methodology, fairly glossed over section re; "noises that can be made from Maelstrom Vol 23".

RachMiel's section on Avant-tifying d&b is interesting though, as is the article on Inspiration inc. a Utah Jazz mini interview.

The CM Focus on Vocal Processing is fucking sweet though, got some extreme examples and an insight into how they got vocal effects on some big tunes, inc. Firestarter.

Ive got somewhere between 50 and 70 disk's from various mags from the last few years and ive barely checked any of them out.

A few of them have gotten dragged onto samples drive. Really need to dig through the lot one day.

TBH them vids are getting generic and boring as fuck because producers are watching others and just emulating the workflows, the amount of them that are just sat in front of logic discussing sidechaining to get a more upfront kick or discussing how good logics in-built eq's are...

No, because I saw it in general. I was hyped up to go buy it and then saw it was someone on the dvd who has only been around for 5 minutes. I only buy it for the dvd so it was disappointing. Then it had some shite house samples. I am not the only person who finds it appauling - there was 3 people flicking through it when I was and we all had a conversation about it... One said "whos this fassy man witha mask on" which made me crease. I don't dislike that whole circus thing with a passion I just don't think they deserve mainstream exposure, yet.
