checked up on the dlc thing... bit annoying but oh well. details here: http://www.rockstargames.com/newswire/a ... -you-.html
I think much like the random encounters in red dead redemption (whores getting abused etc etc) you'll come across crimes happening in which you'll be able to arrest or take down criminals. you'll also get calls from the police headquarters about crimes in progress which you can pursue.wubstep wrote:Soooo...no free roam?
No free roam in a sandbox sense, but generally speaking, free roam during cases in which you can wander anywhere you feel necessary to look for clues. I can't fucking wait for this game.wubstep wrote:Soooo...no free roam?
red dead was quality, so many memorable bits in the storydubloke wrote:my mate says i can borrow his PS3 for the summer because I'm going to be living in a house with no internet or TV for 2 months! this and red dead redemption are on the top of my list of purchases
im pretty sure you'll be able to ignore the calls.. but im not sure you'll be able to bowl, wouldn't really suit the game imo anywayswubstep wrote:Okay, so...no free-roam in the sense that you're always on call?
Like GTAIV, you just ignore your phone if you can't be fucked to go bowling again?
Think I'll wait a couple of weeks, see how the hype plays out after it's release.

the whole story is that in 2004 the game was being funded and was going to be published by sony as a ps3 exclusive, so it might have been very similar to the getaways 'in menu' free roam structure. in 2007 rockstar/take two bought the I.P from team bondi and have been funding it and overlooking the development of the project since, given the potential of a game like this and the amount of rockstars marketing recently. i would imagine rockstar have been advising team bondi quite a bit.stappard wrote:secret door wrote:No free roam in a sandbox sense, but generally speaking, free roam during cases in which you can wander anywhere you feel necessary to look for clues. Its being developed by the same people that made The Getaway (only being published by rockstar), so if you can remember the Getaway's take on freeroam, I guess its going to be pretty similar?

yeah I only played it for about half an hour at one of my mates houses because I wanted to play it all the way through. I have a feeling i might be pretty boring this summerwizeguy wrote:red dead was quality, so many memorable bits in the storydubloke wrote:my mate says i can borrow his PS3 for the summer because I'm going to be living in a house with no internet or TV for 2 months! this and red dead redemption are on the top of my list of purchases
