Re: Moving from reason to cubase
T-racks and izotope ozone are both very good mastering plugins. I know sub focus uses T-Racks.

Kid, if you're upgrading to Cubase 5 then you don't have to worry about still using Redrum... When I had SX3, I used to rape Redrum because I couldn't find a simpler drum sampler but once I saw Groove Agent ONE then I just had to upgrade; it's got a tonne of pads (like, 16x8 compared to Redrum's 10) and 16 stereo outs you can easily route samples to... What moe could you want?
I upgraded from Reason to Cubase about 3 years ago now, and I just found that Cubase has a great way to automate plus the ability to use audio and external VSTs... And as someone else has said, the workflow is very similar so you won't have a problem in that respect

Re: Moving from reason to cubase
use FX channels (and send your audio to them) rather than inserts, better practice and helps save CPU, ctrl+p for pool to get your samples up (or mediabay [devices > mediabay]) - ermmmm, in terms of synths, Z3Ta+ is a handy one to have, the sine wave it comes with is just wankworthy, always use folders and arranger tracks, other than that just keep using it keeop watching tutorials, i know people that have been using cubase for over a decade and still say they only know about 60% of the program, so good luck!

The Ohm VST's are nice too.
On a related note I moved from Reason to Logic and it was like being set free from my aquarium into the open ocean. You won't regret switching

Re: Moving from reason to cubase
I recently made the transition from Live 8 to Cubase 5 - man it was a good day - For some reason loading the same samples in Cubase just sound a shit load better! One tip I'd have is to save a template folder with all your samples loaded in to the pool - it gets fucking tedious loading up samples in to the pool! i'd also advise you to use a group channel track as your "master" - ie send everything to a group before the master - that way you can do global automation on the track (Don't think you can automate the master track - at least I haven't figured out how yet anyway!). Anyways enjoy making music that is gonna sound about 100 times better!
