[quote="topmo3"]No need to go abroad. I heard Scotland has good spots! Can't for the life of me remember the names though...[/quote
cairngorms are alright. pretty austere cold intense and barren though, plus tiny ski area. definitely worth saving up to get out the country imo!

Quality/price wise my favourite country so far is Czech republic. Very cheap accommodation, right at
the first lift. Food and beer was quite cheap too. Don't expect fancy parks though.
Best of everything was Austria/Zell am See, had access to 3 resorts with guaranteed snow for almost 5 months. The highest areas have great pow bits too.
Quite lucky myself, my brother moved to Oslo; 15 minutes from a great snowboard park. Way expensive
though, only reason I can afford it is the free accommodation

LOL no. I guess it was someone who's been banned?
murky21 wrote:nice, yeah thinking of feb too. VT is definitely the best for cost of living/ food/ drink etc. If snow isn't looking up might have to look into tignes too, those glacier sitting, high altitude mufuckas always do alright for snow even on a bad season
Went to Tignes last year. 4th week without fresh snow. Not pretty or fun. Even off piste was complete ice. One of my mates ended up sliding down a black on his back for a few hundred metres. We thought it was gonna be a helicopter mish. He just got up and dusted himself off. Phew!
Starting to think about this season's trip too!

Andorra isn't overly expensive, neither was Austria.

Bulgaria is said to pretty good but i don't know how easy it is getting there and stuff. I've had good experiences in Austria and Andorra. I've always been skeptical about late season skiing, nothing worse than getting half way down a slope and having to take your skis off and walk the rest of it in your boots!
I went late season skiing in Maine (literally last week it was open) when I was quite new at skiing. Didn't even notice it was tough going but my instructor was struggling lol. Did end up massively sunburnt though as I had to ski in a t-shirt coz it was so warm. Also just avoided cracking my head against a randomly exposed boulder. Soft skidding/landing on mushy grass though!
Tempted to go Austria this year, always hear good things.

in switzerland you got loads of nice places.. some of the longest slopes and you can be very near to a city too - so you can party properly after skiing.
but it ain't cheap.

Went to Les gets over Xmas, got a decent deal cos there were 8 of us in a chalet but its everything is such a rinse on the mountains its a joke. I dont think I'lll go again anytime soon but my mrs is obsessed with skiing (she's a ski guide ffs)
Like the sound of Czech Republic I might have a look at that now.
Here's a photo for the thread

Can't seem to get any traction with my mates. Looks like no skiing for me this year. Unless I go alone. Vaguely tempted to quit my job and go out for the remainder of the season. Probably a bit too late now though. Maybe I should opt for redundancy and go.
