loads of classic reeses start in a sampler, but you're not gonna get a heavily processed reese from anyone man, since often that's people's characteristic of sound
that'd be like datsik handing out bass patches
even if you're going to use a reese as a stab or something else it's the same process just with different envelope settings

and so glad i host a sample swap out of my own pocket that mirrors what people want, yet people wanna trade things in private... so tempted to take the shit down since community seems to be lost on most people here

wheres that? in the production bible?

i know what your saying about the reeses that have been processed are like someones own patch, but i had a load on my old comp that were really well done and i cant remember where i got them from, that pc has now died so i was just seeing if there was any knocking around?

not directed at you, more in general
so many people with the attitude well if you do this for me i'll give you this especially when it's something that'll be beneficial to the board as a whole
it'd be like me saying well i know how to do that or what that's sampled from when someone asks, but i'll only tell you if you give me "x break from this tune"

Rekah wrote:i know this threads been done to death but im after some reese samples, ive done a search on doa and here and most of them say why dont you make your own

anyway im after some reese samples but 1s that have been processed, i can make them myself but they dont sound anywhere near as good as some of the samples i have on my old pc (its fucked btw so i cant get them off)

if anyone can help me out id be really greatfull
to make them sound good...starting at the synth get a reese going, but instead of bouncing it....right away...run the channel to a few fx returns.....throw distortion on one fx return and maybe some flange, reverb, chorus on the other....set the levels for each and make sure that the original synth channel is the dominate signal, 2nd distortion layer, 3rd the modulation fx.....and then bounce all that in one shot.......rather than make a reese, bounce, load in sampler add fx bounce....rinse...repeat....a boring and tedious process, that causes one to lose the dynamics of the original signal. :5: :5: :5: once you have this one fat reese load it in kontakt in the mapping editor 3 times spread each one across a whole octave on your keyboard.....and right click on the 2nd and 3rd zone and add each one to a new empty group....now you can assign individual filters to each group so that you could do some frequency splitting and further modulation from there....oh yeah and make sure edit all groups is turned off in the group editor otherwise whatever insert effect you use will apply itself to all groups and not individually.

They take alot of time and effort to sound unique. Quite often I'll have several different long single note mids I've bounced and whack them into kontakt, add more saturation, compression, notch/comb filters, eq, various modulation effects (on the tops, and only a very slight mix to add a bit of movement), send it all to a bus with some more saturation and limiting, then bounce that out as a long note and keep repeating this process until I've got something solid.
then the real work begins
Start playing with different notes and listen to how the sound breaks up in the tops over time, offset the sample start times with various layers, bounce out little hits, playing with the attack and release times and listen to the tails on the end of the sounds, resample these and process more!
Use pitch bends, any movement will speed up or slow down as you move the pitch wheel
Use different glide times for detuned layers and play in little riffs, sample these and mess around with placement, resample and process.
Just go nuts basically

Is this a reese? I am terrible at spotting waveforms still.

Haha it is if you say it is. I generally just call them mids anyways. The one on that tune is just some detuned square waves with an LFO on the filter
