nanoloop + gba micro is one of the coolest things ever, you can put it in your pocket and make music wherever you go...like i said, it's just kinda expensive (will probably run you about $150 overall)
i ordered an lsdj cart last night, gonna take a walk through akihabara this weekend and try to find an old grey. the frustrating thing is that i still have mine from when i was 8, it's just sitting in a box on the other side of the world right now

i am seriously considering getting one of these (they're $85)
and using this program
http://www.littlegptracker.com
$85 is a bit higher, but it's more portable than a GB, has a rechargeable battery, and you can play roms from like any retro game system if you need a break

it's called the Dingoo A320
you install a version of Linux on it called Dingux
I'm really tempted, but to be honest I've never used Linux before and I hate tweaking stuff, and looking at all of the resources on the web today has confused me and made me think it's kind of a time sink.
I still might get it though

I need a Chanukah present for myself and I don't have a TV to play the SNES / Genesis games I want...

I tried that a while back, and there were a few reasons why it wasn't really good. It was really expensive, all of the TV here is digital, and there was another reason why I couldn't get it to work.
The Dingoo sounds awesome but also sounds like a headache...Linux scares me

if you're smart enough to operate a tracker linux should be a piece of cake
