Salem are a bunch of tool though, it's the fact that they are so obviously suburban white hipsters who pretend they go to footwork clubs and the first record they listened to was DJ Nate. Bullshit. My first record was Mr Blobby or something.
DJ Nate is 20 years old and is not really apart of the footwork scene in Chicago.
exactly, there was some interview where they were saying they love DJ Nate and they go to footwork clubs and get accepted because they are just as poor or something, just utterly cringeworthy, especially since Nate isn't rated at grassroots
regardless, I'm not commenting on the quality of the music

I dont think its hate, its merely opinion.
But remember this is a music forum, its regulation to have 5 pages of debate over genre names at least 3 times a year!
too bad, that's the only thing people seem to care about in debating... they're could be more room for interesting discussion if we all moved a bit past that..

i know there is,afterall this is a forum, was just a poke since i just end up always resorting to pm, because it either stagnates or some random user comes in the way screaming hate or with vague statements and the point gets missed...sometimes even before some can post 3 words..
i do not have anything more to add to the witch house topic though, at least for now.

witch house is not a genre. witch house is an undanceable bullshit musical fad started by white suburban stnuc, who just ripped off skweee sounds from the swedes/norwegians
i really dont think many, if any of the dudes you're thinking of have been ripping off skweee.
I was just thinking the same thing, what a weird genre to associate dragg with... Skwee is one of the most blatantly plagerised and unoriginal sounds out there at the moment... I'm really feeling a lot of the Tri angle labels out put at the moment, and i don't really care if I can pronounce the names of the artists or not, really petty thing to get caught up on imo. Having an opinion is one thing, being overly aggressive and condesending about your opinion is one way to deliver it, but sometimes people get stuck on the douchbaggery of the delivery and miss your point... To each their own.
@ Hackman - Eh? U don't like fanny?

there is no skwee connect with 'witchhouse'
i like loads of this stuff - but not keen on the salem material really.
OoOoo is excellent though, more pop sensibility underpinned with weird production, arrangement, hooks and sluggish shuffly drums. check out the tunes Mumbai and sepcially Hearts.
dunno why its called house as it seems more analogius with hiphop / electronica to me - whatever that actualyl is. the whole sound dovetails nicely for me with slow organic 100-110bpm house and darkstar-esque vocal stuff.
MOAR PLEASE

witch house > footwork
THERE. i said it.
but seriously, there are some good tunes in this new "genre." after reading some interviews with salem, its quite obvious that they are not the smartest of people, however, the music hits pretty hard. turn it up loud and light up a spliff

yes , only smart people can produce good music. the reality is that 90% of the major names in dubstep are fucking dopes, not all of them are part time lecturers like kode9
try hold a conversation with coki

i meant the sound itself, but then again, i used to listen to a lot of psychedelic funk so to me it just sounds like elements of that over some new era drums... some of it is ok, but it's far from original... (what is these days tho, lol)
