Your thread title is "Yet Another MIDI thread", not "What Controller Should I Get"....... (and there are 50 million of those threads.)
Well the actual subject should be read? Not just the title.

I don't mind lugging it around, but I'm just wondering if it would be better to have that as opposed to a BCF or a nanokontrol.

Personally I would leave a 49 key controller for the studio. If you want to have some keys for live performance perhaps the Oxygen 8 v.2 would be for you. It has knobs, and if you want some faders you could pair it with a NanoKontrol. Both of those should be within your budget.

The only thing with the NanoKontrol is that the faders are really quite small. It would be nice to have semi decent sized faders, I mean if it comes to the NanoKontrol which I have been seriously considering for a while then I don't mind. I was just wondering what do I really do in this situation.

The BCF is still definitely an option the only thing with full sized faders in this price bracket. I mean tbh at a stretch I might even be able to grab an APC20...

I feel you on the fader size. I do really like the faders on my APC20, but sometimes I even don't want to lug that around. I performed last Thursday with just a Nocturn and a NanoKontrol and it worked out fine. The faders are small but usable, I mainly had those assigned to channel volumes.

As far as the BCF, you yourself said those controllers have questionable build quality. I have no opinion on those myself, as I have never used one.

You should totally grab that APC20 if you can swing it. I actually bought it for live purposes but now it usually lives in my studio because it is so awesome for writing music. It totally changed how I write music. I ended up with one of those over the launchpad just because of the faders on it.

Well I'd be getting a Launchpad and an APC... I reckon I have a budget of about £460 in total, but that needs to get something with faders, a Launchpad style device and a legal copy of Ableton (30 day trial fuck yeah, plus I can get the education version). I'd probably mess around with the Launchpad more, bigger/more buttons plus a hell of a lot more customizable (Step Sequencers ftw). I don't need an APC40 as I have my BCR for the knobs. So I think I'll be getting an APC40 if my budget will allow it, if not then a BCF or a NanoKontrol and some other random shite lmao.

APC20 if my budget allows it, not APC40 sorry.
