well, it does have some deep bass in there at times, and it has a few drops.
and for the most part, zeds dead are dubstep producers. and tour as such.
yet, this track is 130bpm.
so...damn near close.
then again, i could easily imagine someone that had no idea what dubstep is could listen to joker's "snake eater" and consider it a hip hop instrumental. also, "wut".

More like a fidget house tune to me than anything.
I really dont get this massive influx of tunes where they have a deep dark long intro then head to a drop which has absolutely NOTHING to do with the intro at all...

Wow. You cats are militant
No dub, no step; don't you think you've taken the name a little to literal? Also, lol @ comparing music with food... There's not as much grey area in food as there is in music. A tomato is a fucking tomato, a song can be in between the margins. Blur the line out of all recognition

i was only taking the piss
however, there are many grey area's in food. for instance: is a jaffa cake a cake or a biscuit? how do you define something as being 'curry'? is it just that its a spicey sauce for food with rice? if so then surely chilli is curry too! plenty of grey areas there...

in the end
compare it with something like Matt U's Jump and try calling it dubstep.
Militant?
If that's how you describe calling out crap or attempts at labelling everything dubstep.
I'd call it being assertively protective,
not of something I own or want to hold onto,
but countering the exploitation of a refined aesthetic.

the exploitation of a refined aesthetic? there are people who only listen to classical music and would use that defense as their argument when they glibly tell us that our music isn't even music at all, in their opinion. dubstep is different things to different people. to me, people like shackleton, peverelist, dmz, burial, rsd, skream, etc... are all dubstep, to some only some on that list are considered dubstep. still others would bring entirely different lists to mind when they think about the term. why should we care who thinks what? its like caring what someones religion or food preferences are, imho. i dunno, maybe i'm just too high atm, watching the get darker xmas special

can a tomato be a tune? i'm sure that would work

I might be going mad here, but surely there are a few clues;
wrong tempo, wrong beat, no shuffle, not much in the way of sub, mixed with a different audience in mind plus, on top of all of that it's a kind of breaks-esque house tune.
so no, it's not dubstep. Is dubstep a broad church - yeah. You could make a dubstep-ish tune and change one or two of those things. But if you change all of them, it's just a different genre.
