i love all you music illiterate kids. what does 1 4 and 7 even mean? 7th beat? 7th eighth note? 7th 16th note? what are you trying to say?

learn basic theory kids.
mate i've been studying music for 9 years, i'm a jazz pianist.. i mean on the first count, the fouth count and the seventh count, wether it's eiths or fourths, it sounds epic. Seriously, don't go there -r-
Sounds like cheap, hard-quantized triplets to me.
pretty much ALL Digital Mystikz songs are made in that rythm

dude, those really are not triplets. it's syncopated. I'll bet you a million. You can never get a good result by combining triplet hats and straight basslines or melodies. It gets muddy. Amateuristic if you will. You don't have that problem with syncopated hats.

for a good example of what i mean, in this song, the kicks in the intro are syncopated:

Tell yourself that, you can put triplets over 4's any day of the week though, your holding yourself back by staying on the grid man, shuffle and timings re key, nothing amateur about it, triplets, are, sexy. :W:

And stop saying syncopated. Triplets would be syncopated too. :W:

i'm not sure i'm using the right term then. (i'm not english) what do you call a scheme like this:
HIT blank blank HIT/ blank blank HIT blank / HIT blank blank HIT/ blank blank HIT blank /
and so on?

And i'm tired of this argument. I just wanna tell you, DMZ's songs are almost all in that (or a variation). Check out the song i posted. Or the song in my signature for that matter, the intro beat. Ain't no triplets

3-3-4 man. Im not saying yours doesnt sound good, Im saying you cant write off a technique as old as rhythm itsself, which is what triplets are. And also saying that DMZ are known to write on rel 12/8 sometimes, and Ive almost never heard one of there songs that werent late-beat hihats with triplets bouncing between the starts and ends of the bars. Your pattern can sound good, not doubting that, its also a tried and true rhythm (3-3-4 built dancehall)... but... you cant write off other techniques either, and you cant try to argue that dmz dont use triplets.

And I just wanna tell you, Ive speant ages studying DMZ, in reference to your linked tune, thats not a DMZ track, kicks and hihats are two different things, and like I said, 3-3-4 is a major player in EDM, I was never arguing that noone uses it. :D:

And you were using the right term, when you said syncopation. Syncopation means a dominant hit where there would normally be a passive rest, which makes both our patterns, triplets and 3-3-4, a form of syncopation.

If you just listen to "haunted" for example, the hihats are in the "3-3-4" rythm...

Once again, Im not doubting that dmz have used the pattern, just saying, its not the majority, and you cant say they dont use triplets as well.

i'm still not convinced though my friend... Can you link me a song where there is a clear triplet structure? or even a triplet fill?
