Decks: go for Technics SL-1210/1200. MK2s are fine MK5Gs if you have a lot of money. Other makes make good decks too but technics very easy to get 2nd hand - do not settle for shit decks.

DVS: Serato or Traktor Scratch Pro pretty similar really, down to preference - if I was you i would stick to vinly though :6:

Mixer: Ecler Nuo, Allen & Heath XONE, Formula Sound, Urei or Rane if you want nice sound, others also like pioneer but I don't. Any thing with 2 channels, 3 band EQ and volume faders will do to get started and you can always upgrade later!

Stylus: Orfton Pro s or Stanton 500s entry level, Sure White Labels or Orfton Concordes for mid level.

Speakers: I'd go for just some good hi fi speakers (stands if there bookshelf style) and an amp. If you want to produce aswell get some monitors Mackie and Yamaha make some nice mid-level ones. Alesis or KRK for cheaper ones.

Thanks alot guys. :)

EDIT: Mixing dubstep obviously.

EDIT2: Looking at the M-Audio BX5a with some stands? Not sure if they definitely used for monitoring but people say they have a really good bass...which is obviously what I am after.
? 8-)

My current set-up:

2x Citronic pd-1 decks (cost me £50)
1x Numark M2 mixer (cost me £70)
Older amp and speakers which are coming on their last legs, hence the post before.

My setup does fine atm as a begininer and gives me more money to spend on lots of records but slowly going to upgrade it all over this year.

2x Stanton t.80s (second hand)

Pioneer DJM600 (3rd hand I believe)

Logitech z5500s

The speakers are the only thing I am really unsure about.. they came with a 10" subwoofer though and only cost me about a third of what a pair of rokits 8s would or any decent monitors really

any specific model you'd recommend mate?

i got the hd 25 SP ii's for £92 off amazon and theyre fucking immense.

the next ones up: http://www.sennheiser.co.uk/uk/home_en. ... nes_502188
are quite a bit better but the jump in price didnt seem worth it to me.

basically theyre loud, comfortable, sturdy amd all the bits are replaceable. what more could you ask for?!

I completely recommend the HD 215s. They're cheap as chips, sound amazing, have a good bass response and very good isolation. However, the most important thing about them is that they're shaped in a way that they stick to your head perfectly. That was always my problem with HD-25s; you'd be messing with em, trying to find the right little spot, and they'd slide off my head and onto the turntables. They've also lasted me a good 4 years without taking any damage.

Could not big em up enough. Really.

HD25s fit me fine but hurt my little ears after a while if in the wrong position - no problems for DJ use though - perfect!
