Some people have recently been talking about this new venue in Cardiff.. Something about a listed building being renovated or along those lines. Steve from C-Y-N-T was talking about it on Facebook but not revealing much.
Anyone know / heard about this?

You on about The Vault? It's an old listed building, it's a vault from the old natwest bank.
I've got a mate who went to some techno thing there (or he might be going in the future, I can't remember)

No. Apparently, it's not open yet. Just being refurbished now so I'm not sure if it's the one. Opening in the next month or two according to some.

Just spoke to my mate and the event is on the 5th february. Be fun if there's an entirely new venue being opened away from the high street, Cardiff could do with a decent soundsystem.

It's easier to jump on the train to Bristol. Think it's about a 40 minute journey from Cardiff and you're in soundsystem heaven. Lakota, Motion and The Black Swan usually bring in serious systems. I think Lakota is outfitted with Funktion 1 in 2 rooms as standard actually.

This, big up Ben!
SIGNATURE is a good night in Cardiff, always good bookings, I think Zed Bias is playing the 27th
The sound isnt great though and they always try and incorporate a fashion catwalk which is odd but quite amusing...

Nah man that was possibly one of the Night Owls boys who ran their first night at the same venue lat friday. I was unable to make it but apparently it went off. The landlord seemed pretty stoked cos until now it's always been known as a rock club and he's always been keen to diversify.
My first night is 5th of march. Bit slack at the mo cos I should be filing tax returns haha but I'll get the listing up in the next few days.

In Cardiff Its been a major struggle since day dot. Looking back to the days when we used to do mud on for free in conti's nothing major has changed in terms of venue/sound system.
The Obey & Signature boys are on the button.
This new club that everyone is talking about is the old "Squares" on St Mary St. Hopefully it wont turn into your standard "Town" joint and let us play some propper music in there.
As much as many people werent the biggest fan, Glo Bar was excellent at its time, and there is nothing that has really replaced it, yeah you can moan that it was too small blah blah blah but it fitted the purpose perfectly
Fingers crossed after all this time things are going to start folding together nicely. We have had some lovely line ups of recent. And there is a hell of a lot of tallent here, its gutting that none of it is getting exploited propperly.
I know we've got plenty of small clubs, Clwb Ifor, Cai, & Bassment etc... but the soundsystems are not worthy of the music. We need a venue for bass music and only bass music.

Someone should buy the closed-down Barfly and fit it out with a Funktion system. Oh and make the air breathable

yes that would be heavy, and i'd probably settle for just the sound system, air is over rated in comparison to percussion & sub bass
city bass was going off down there before, was gutting when they pulled the plug on our fun
