Big up Stormfield - know he is feeling the dubstep big time.. He has had me as a guest on his ammunition radio show. The new Combat EP is fuckin rude.

as i wrote somewhere here, my journey into land of dubstep started after dj scud was playing somet dubstep and grime here in polandAlex bk-bk wrote:hmmmm veeery interesting. Biggup the people who said Wasteland and Alva Noto.
Was anyone ever into the ambush hardcore junggle/ragga/breakcore stuff? It's all a bit dead now, but I was really into it a few years back.
thnx!appleblim wrote:yo Dubway, pickin up on Grime that u might like....
u should check
Davinche : all of the Dirty Canvas EPs, and his produuctions for Kano & Essentials....even if u don't like vocals, the instrumentals on those EPs are just HUGE...(Jenny by Essentials being one)
Terror Danjah: pretty much everything on the Aftershock label, but particularly Nightcralwer and Sonar, and Big ED on FL records
Wiley: i know it may be stating the obvious but Wiley should be yr first point of call for experimental grime...rhythms like Freeze, Ice Rink, Eskimo Devils Mix and so on are enthraling, deep, spooked.....groundbreaking. you should check the Roll Deep Poltergeist Relay EP too....
Skepta: Private Caller, Mucktion, & DTI are all bad rhythms, and really different....tho peeps say he is very influenced by Wiley, i reckon he's got his own sound...
on a different tip J Sweet is making some huge beats too, you should definately get Kerb, coz the flipside is just as big as Kerb - which is MASSIVE! The tune 'Marxmen' is a total floor rocker too.....
these are all things you would have heard Plasticman, or Kode 9 drop at some point....
hope thats a few pointers!
this is the answerZefa wrote:Seconded...rude album...all there stuff is sick tho!!Paulie wrote:the new Modeselektor album is heavy.
Music for dubsteppas...
Basic Channel 1-9
All the Burial Mix back cat
All the Wackies back cat released by BC
All the Basic Replay back cat released by BC Ijahman Levi and Keith Hudson, Jackie Mittoo etc
M series - my personal fave is M7 - can get lost in that tune, truly awsome.
Stuff by Deadbeat - particularly the album - New world observer
Bluetrain back cat - wicked dub tunes by Steve O'Sullivan
Deepchord stuff - in a similar vein to Basic Channel but deeper
Rod Modell's stuff solo and with Deepchord
Carsten Nicolai and the stuff on Raster Noton - all of it - truly minimal electronics.
Twilight Circus dub stuff - wicked!!
