BBC is paid for by the tax payer - there is not a single piece of commercial advertising or revenue stream, and it somehow still makes a profit.

They don't even have their own data centers lol.

Guy I work with was lead developer on the iPlayer.

They make vast sums of money selling DVDs and merchandise, books, magazines, they also sell their programmes, films and rights for remakes to other broadcasters in other countries. They also get about a third of a billion £ off the state (but that's getting cut, tory stnuc)

Have to say, man, I don't mind paying my TV licence (even if I couldn't afford to once!). I pay Sky £35pcm for a hundred channels of shit that have adverts :\
