I got the inbuilt speakers on my laptop, when I'm ripping 128's from YouTube the midrange makes me want to do something to a relative and potentially find another relatives wedding ring

The thing is that most people saying the "deeper" side of the sound is weak say that because they've never experienced it on a proper system. So yeah in a way I agree with OP, in a way brostep is "cheaper" because you get the essential of the music through pretty much anything. You need 20 000W to get what sub-bass is truly about.
*slowclap* exctly what i was trying to say...and icanican't's post was on point aswell
and before anyone says anything...i clearly stated i do like some of brostep so its not a hate thread...just me throwing an idea out there and seeing everyonelse's POV

yes, everything sounds different on a system, bass heavy music especially. I wasnt disagreeing with that fact, I was stating that people like hype because they like it, not because of their laptop speakers

But if you have never heard anything over a decent system or even with a sub then how are you supposed to enjoy the deeper stuff? Obviously they do just like that style like you say but part, not the whole, of the reason it is more popular is because it is more accessible because there is less of a need for a decent system/ speakers

Agree to disagree. So you're saying the same thing happened to DnB? People can't afford speakers so they just listen to midrange? What kind of speakers do I need to enjoy funky, which is neither "deep" nor "hype"? The problem with this thought process is that it pretends that hype and deep are the only two types of dubstep out there... What about wild rhythmic dubstep?

Lol yeah I got overexcited on that one. But I keep thinking on a really big system it's something different. I'm talking out of my personal experience, going from listening to Flux Pavilion on an ipod station to feeling a Ramadanman tune in a party was the thing that changed my vision on dubstep, and I think it would be the case with many other people.

There is indeed a lot of different types of dubstep, actually I think every producer has its own vision of what dubstep is. But here we're talking about the more midrange-focused side. And for me hearing that kind of sound on my ipod or in a party just doesn't change a thing, while with the more sub-bass focused tracks it's the complete opposite.

Where'd you hear those terms?

I'm just tired or reading Brostep everywhere, tried to come up with something catchy and more descriptive.
