This post reminded me of a burial interview I read when I started producing. It influenced me and my attittude to music so much.

^ASCAP isn't copyright. If you want to register the copyrights of your music, in the states you do so w/ the Library of Congress.

ASCAP collects royalties for performances of your works-- similar to PRS in the UK. There's also BMI and SESAC in the states.

I agree that you are not ready but have to say the track "dirty money" is not so bad - there is an idea and some groove i feel:) sound is bad.

In response to what is clipping? Here is my standard email template, I have literally lost count of how
many times it has been sent out....

Quote
Hi there xxxxx the first thing I notice is your file is clipped.

This means the level has exceeded zero on the output of your DAW mixer output it is characterized by the squared off waveform if you zoom in very much to a peak in the file, as asking for you to rebalance the entire mix is not reasonable or practical would you please reduce the master output fader so any peaks do not hit zero......(i.e. the top of the meter) -6dBFS would be great.

Im in the same boat as you trying to get noticed, but the thought of me making music and not getting anyone to hear it kind of puts me in a non productive mood sometimes.
As musicians/producers/beat makers (Whatever you wanna call yourself) of course we have a thirst for people to listen to our music and sometimes it does get us down when we ain't getting new fans and djs playing our music but you must remember that making music is a personal thing even if your motivation is to get noticed/signed/famous/rich...

Remember its you who made the music and you had inspiration to make music which is probably subconscious so don't let the conscious things bring you down... Just do what feels natural when you load up your DAW, stop checking your soundcloud every hour for new comments or plays.. Stop sending music to people and just write music for yourself for a bit, you know make music what YOU would listen to on your own in your bedroom on repeat for hours.

That feeling will go away pretty soon :).

Reading this, I just realized that the times when I've been most productive have been the times before I was uploading tunes and then the "break" that I took a few months back.

I need to get my production priorities straight!

Thanks for the words of wisdom! :n:

i always thought intellectual property rights covered a track as soon as you produced it, no paperwork required?

As far as i understand this is how it works. The only time problems arise is when someone claims they had the idea/made the track before you, which would cause them to own the intellectual property.

TBH the cheapest way to do this is to make up a CD and send it to yourself in the post. Don't open it until someone files a claim. Since the post will have a date stamped on it you can prove you were the first to have the song.

If that was the case then everyone would copywrite their stuff like this, it would be cheaper. Their has been cases where this as happened in the past, and they have won, but I would not consider that a copywrite.

You miss the point of my post...

That is not a copywrite.
