I kind of give a fuck, but I understand what you mean. I don't think anyone can know what happens when something sells out.

"Selling out" is a term that can vary in interpretation anyway. For example, the dubstep community, as a whole, can sometimes call people sell outs for what others would consider trivial reasons

Anyway, I cannot tell how much of their true attitude is shown in their music and how much is speaking in character. I don't think they'll sell out but, when Eminem first broke through, I never thought I'd ever see him in a commercial....
It could happen really fast (they're young), it could take years, or it could never happen.

Side rant: I love these guys for the same reasons a lot of people do, and I think they deserve recognition and appreciation... but I'm getting sick of hearing people praise them like they are going to transform hip-hop music for the better. It is cool and it can wake some people up from the really bad bullshit; however, personally, I feel that the only artists that will emerge in their wake are just going to be less lyrically talented horror-core acts. It'll be different, but not exactly where I would like to see hip-hop go. Does anyone remember a little group called Three 6 Mafia? This kind of stuff already happened to an extent. It was good but... I've heard OFWGKTA compared to the WU... and I say NO to that.

I could be wrong about everything though.
I really want to see them grow lyrically though. They are good, but they have the potential to be awesome.

yeah I draw more comparisons to early triple six. Like if they had formed in 200X this is similar to what they'd sound like.

I'm all for it. The thing that drew me to early triple six is it wasn't backpacking shit, it wasn't overdone gangster rap, and it wasn't about money and bitches.

Similar vibe with OFWGKTA. Own little niche

To see these guys aren't ready to be stars is fucking patronising them, to be honest. They should become very, very famous and make a lot of money indeed. They deserve the fuck out of it.

Was about to say this. Stop over analyzing this shit. Its just music, listen to it or don't.
hmm?

speculation does not equal over analyzing. grow the fuck up and drop the high horse internet pseudo-art-deco bullshit. it's just a curious question, not a damnation one way or the other.

i'm listening to it either way, progression intrigues me. maybe selling out will be the best thing to happen to them, maybe it will change hip hop forever.

i know it's tough to gather a standpoint from a forum, but you two delving into that state of mind because you assume i think selling out is a bad thing speaks volumes about your characters
Art deco what? My point is I dont fucking care what some dipshit rapper out in cali who writes a catchy lyric does with his label. Price of tea in China, and shit.

then GTFO and don't comment on the thread that is discussing what will happen when said "dipshit rapper" sells out, unless you have something to contribute to the discussion, or want to appear magnificently stupid.

oops, too late on the latter. maybe you'll have better luck next time.

I think it's inevitable to some extent, Tyler won't be able to write rape jams forever if he wants to get on some Pharell shit. I don't blame him. I don't even LIKE the rape jams, I like "Yonkers" more than all of Bastard.
