just wondering why you are after a drum machine when you say you have kontakt installed and you are not going to get a sampler? just use kontakt for your drums. you are kind of limiting yourself with a drum machine as far as sounds go. if you get a sampling drum machine, you can look at the mpc 1000 or 500 which will let you use any drum sound you want and give you pretty good control with the pads.

There's something to be said for making your own drum sounds, being able to tune your kick drums to your liking to get that hard analog punch, etc. And the Machinedrum is really, really flexible; the sampling version is definately on my list to buy.
It's sort of a "luxury" rather than something you absolutely need, but it's fun. I've used my TR-909 for years and love it... although it needs to go into the shop because its sequencer is fucked...

I'm buying my first piece of analogue kit from my cousin.
Behringer T1952 Analogue Tube Compressor.
I'm going to replace the tubes with 12AX7s. Anyone recommend a brand for this application?
I hear that 12AX7s sound just tremendous dropped into this unit.

I have the falal1ty pro, with audio creation mode, has a whole load of features that i dont know how to use, lol.

Creative Labs boards are designed for gamers.
Don't know how much is the x-fi but you can get an EMU 1212M for less than 150 EUR.

Better than the TR909 is Drumazon, it's about 100 quid from d16.pl
As for other stuff:
Soundcard: M-Audio Delta Audiophile 192 is just fine
