Same. Great sound, solid build. Nice pricetag.
I'm pretty much certain I will get this mixer. I guess I have the money for a Rane or an Ecler HAK but
it's just so damn expensive

I have a Rane Empath. Sounds great in my bedroom, sounds great in huge rooms. I love it.

There are no on board effects; not a problem for me, but could be a deal-breaker for others.

42, build quality is solid. Little features about it like the feel of the buttons and the glow in the dark strips across it are a nice touch. As for sound quality, i think it's the mixer used in Matter @ 02 so it must be doing something right.

Would you recommend any Numark mixer? If yes, could you point me in the right direction
I have been avoiding Numark in the search of a new mixer but I don't really have a reason for doing so.

i have a xone 62 and it is amazing!!!
i think the 42 is just the same with less channels if im not mistaken?

like people said before, the filters on it are fucking sick. its a pretty solid mixer all round.

the xone 42 looks sick in black too!

try ebay first though, i got my xone 62 for just over 300 of the queens finest pounds

Just my experience, but Allen & Heath (as of quite recently I believe) has all of their mixers manufactured in China, where I believe they made them in the UK before.
I purchased a xone 22 based on all of the outstanding reviews, and the damn thing had hiss in the headphones, and the phono pres were fucked, this is BRAND NEW and supposedly one of the best 2 chans out there... the filters WERE sick tho.

I'd go for Ecler! They look cooler. Just a no frills tank of a mixer

the new djm 900 has USB in .... so if your using that Trakor thingy you could use 2x cdj2000 and a djm900 and be setup very quickly

are the pioneer mixers shitty? i'm giving up my rane mixer because i really don't like using serato anymore (it was nice to learn on though) and was thinking about the djm-350, but it seems expensive. don't need any fancy effects or USB support or whatever, just the ability to play my vinyl.

I've got a DJM-700 and its pretty decent!

Before I had a behringer (low-cost) but just to learn beat matching and stuff. After a while I must had have a pioneer mixer.
The ecler evo 5 also has a lot of effects and even looks pretty good.

We own 4x DJM800 / 1x Allen & Heath xone62 & a 92 / i think we even got a old 500 somewhere ..... DJM 800 is far the best mixer with the least amount of problems. The Allen & Heath 62 & 92 both clip to high hell ( if used wrong ) and this is down down a very ''hot'' output stage.

OK after lots of reading and searching...2 models are left, but the choice is really hard!
Allen & Heath Xone:42 or Ecler NUO 4.0, gonna be one of these. Deciding after the weekend.
Prefer the Xone a little bit more at the moment, but it's very close :)

A tip for VINYL dj's: Don't buy pioneer mixers.. they are digital mixers :a: and they make the sound flat imo, they're very comfortable to mix with, but sound wise they're shit compared to good analog mixers.. I recommend Ecler, all brands, just find the one that fits you

I also recommend this one:

http://www.funktion-one.com/ > Products > Electronic Products > FF4000 DJ Mixer

A mixer designed by Funktion one, I haven't tried it yet but I'm visiting Funktion HQ in a couple of weeks so I'm hoping to test one there..

From the description:
"Around 2004 we became increasingly frustrated with the lack of audio quality of almost every DJ mixer in the market and resolved to do something about this. We formed a working party of Funktion One sound technicians and DJs to design a layout for a new mixer and then worked in collaboration with Formula Sound to produce the FF4000 which delivers a revolutionary combination of DJ friendliness and stunning sound quality."

Good luck !

Any mixer clips to high hell if used wrong...how can you single out A&H for this?
The level meters on nearly all A&H mixers go red before the signal actually starts to clip. They calibrate them like that on purpose, presumably with the intention of tricking DJs into keeping plenty of headroom. My 32 "clips" all the time but its not a problem.

You're the first pro (I presume!) sound engineer/rig owner I've seen ever praise Pioneer, let alone recommend them over A&H. I'm genuinely interested, what's your thinking?
madmeesh wrote:manufactured in China
Yeah personally I'd go for a 2nd hand, old style, UK-built A&H these days. They've moved their manufacturing from Cornwall ( :4: ) to China ( :| ) which doesn't seem to have affected the end price to the consumer much, but I bet it will have affected build quality in some way!

Just please don't buy a Pioneer whatever you do :)

Ecler NUO 2.0

Had to make the decision between Ecler & A&H and went for the Nuo 2.0. Slightly more expensive but a better feel.
