K so maximus IS my problem? That's good. I've been working on the song all day, and there is no grain within fl but when I export it the grain comes back :u:

ARGHHH

Also, even though I love fl studio and it's probably super fun to argue that it's just as good as other daws, it's not. Plain and simple. With some exterior help it can be, but even image-line would admit that it's not the best. First off, you cannot use automation clips with knobs on third party VSTS (like massive,) and second you can hardly push the dbs at all without getting grain all over your final mix. I'm sure there are ways to work around this, but a total noob working with FL will make a song that sounds worse than the same noob working with ableton or cubase. When someone makes a fruity loops song, even if it's absolutely incredible, you can still tell that it's a fruity loops song.

BUT I would like some advice. What is a good alternative to Maximus? Also, the problem seems to be with the really high shelf frequencies... If I get rid of that an entire color of the final mix dies :( I am working with fl studio version 8 if that makes any difference...

Another also, I hate to sound like a baby and I know it's typical forum etiquette to be an ass at all times but could you try not to be insulting? I'm just looking for advice. I'm here for the same reason you are all here. Being a prick about everything doesn't help anything...

NOT TO BE A PRICK but if you arent even aware that FL can automate ANY parameter whether its third party or not, you should learn FL more before bashing it.
automating massive is like, the whole point of massive when it comes to dubstep...and FL is very well capable of doing it plus more.
I am on FL8 as well and would never think of switching.

Yes you can

For a final mix you don't want anything touching 0db anyway

Are you using Maximus on your master? of course if you remove all the high frequencies your mix is going to suffer.

I'm not trying to be a "prick" but i would suggest you learn your DAW and any VST's you have with it before saying they sound like crap.

Honestly mate you are so wrong that it hurts.
To automate 3rd party VSTS move the knob you wanna control then click tools> last tweaked parameter > create automation clip. Simple
If you cant do something in FL its because of you.
Fruitys not holding you back, your holding it back.
Honestly mate have you really been producing for three years without knowing how to automate vsts????
If so nothing is gonna help you cus FL is the probably one of if not the most user friendly DAWs

Dude, Rando, stop trying to trick this guy. Everybody knows you can't automate 3rd party plugins in flstudio. Major limitation. And when you push it, it gets all grainy and shit.

As has been mentioned repeatedly around here, every single serious dub step producer uses Digital Performer. It is the only way that you can do everything you need to do to make that sick sick bass. And you can push it way harder than flstudio, and it won't get grainy, just louder and louder. If you want the loudest possible tracks, Digital Performer is the only way to go, and I really hope everyone stops messing around with this poor guy. It is time that he was in on the secret.

Yeah, that is a work around, but it makes the sound grainy, and you cannot make the sound really loud.

this is not true at all, where are you guys getting all your bullshit info from

if you don't want to create automation clips, simply click the drop down in your synth, go to browse parameters, right click on the parameter you want to edit, scroll and click edit events, this gives you imo much more control over your automation and is good for adding little variation without having to continuously slice automation clips in the track section

When I said create automation clip I should of made clear you can also go edit events or edit events in piano roll.
And ive never had any problems with grain or loudness issues when using automation clips anyway so dunno what you mean there ????

I know my DAW guy, and I know that my vsts sound amazing WITHIN the program, but when I export they sound considerably worse. I also know that in my experience with pro tools, the songs that I composed in that program sounded much cleaner coming out even though they were pushing the DBs beyond 0.

I never directly linked the two. I said 1; I can't make automation clips AND 2; songs render grainy even though they sound perfectly fine within the program.

The problem is you, not your daw or vsts.
All the problems you have listed are problems with you

I have no idea why your menu doesant show that option. No offense but are you using cracked software as thats the only thing I can think of still unlikely though.
I was talking to someone else about the grain thing btw re-read.
If your tunes sound different after exporting Id suggest checking your rendering settings.

pushing the DBs beyond 0. ?????
I pity the fool who clips his master and blames his DAW.
