Re: Quick question....
The quality of the sounds you make has little to do with your DAW. Think of each DAW as a blank canvas, differing only in shape, size and texture. Each artist has his own preference of surface on which to paint, but the final pictures quality will only be dictated by the talent of the artist.
Getting professional sounds is down to hard work and practice, nothing more.
I have used Cubase and Logic, I prefer Logics environment but Cubase has some sick audio editing features. My tunes however, sound equally rubbish on both
Point is, no one can tell you what will work best for you, it's personal preference. With enough practice, it won't affect your sound. Get some demos and just start faffing about. You won't have a clue what you are doing, so start learning! Google, YouTube, wikipedia, these are all your friends.

Re: Quick question....
Haha very entertaining to read....
Well........I downloaded and installed some programs to "try them out" like someone had suggested.
I am trying out the Ableton Live 8 or something like that.....
And I am having a nightmare with it. (Not giving up at all though)
I cannot hear what I am trying to do..........It was like 4 am when I was trying , so Im too tired to try to mess with it right now, but I think once I get some sleep Im going to try to mess with it again, and figure it out.
I heard FruityLoops is easier to use but you cant "do as much with it" is that true?
P.s. Yes, Yes.... I am a noob. Now shower me with your wisdom.

Re: Quick question....
U can do as much with fruity as with any daw. in fact, fl has a very unique way of dealing with sound and a lot of great dubstep producers, let alone producers, use it.
only thing ableton has easier over other daws is its live capabilities... u can play live with ableton more easily, altho this is also feasable (a bit less easily imo) with any other daw...
i personally prefer certain daws over others, everyone does i guess.. but the idea here is to find urself a tool ull enjoy spending time on.. and that could be any daw... that way ur gonna improve and actually have fun
thats why i suggested spending 2 days demo'ing... allowing urself the time to do it is important... and i dunno for u but, speakin'bout me... whatever i start doing late at night liike say from 2 am going on later, is bs anyways.
give yaself a chance. and watch beginner utube videos
*note : i tried to adapt my format to ur artistic endeavors

Re: Quick question....
it's going to be a few months before you sort the workflow of any daw not a matter of hours since they all have their nuances
like if i go back to trying to use fl nowadays it's just so backwards and convoluted compared to say cubase, pro tools, live or logic
but it's more than capable of kicking out sick tunes in as many do
it's a matter of finding what you're comfortable working in and sticking to it
music production is definitely not for impatient people or those who want simple quick results

Re: Quick question....
Skream still uses FL. Or at least he did towards the end of last year. There was a Magnetic Man interview where Benga and Artwork both said they used logic and had been trying to convert Skream for ages but he was still too in love with FL or something to that effect.nitzdaking wrote:skream used to use flpRiNcEsSBaBy wrote:Haha very entertaining to read....

Re: Quick question....
Just search Ableton in google and you'll find the official website where they will tell you everything it has.
Suite has synths like Operator and Analog, effects like a compressor, delay, reverb, EQ 8, Limiters, Redux and more.
It also has like a sample engine to tweak em, or play them as a synth.
Also comes with some drums.
Now don't get lite. I had lite for awhile and unless you really can't afford the normal version or suite and only want to learn how to use midi then buy it.
Other than that steer clear. That's my opinion.
